Click For SpoilerNo, it wasn't just you. I actually teared up. And did you see the look on T'Pol's face, how hard she was fighting to maintain control? But the best scene of all was between Trip and Archer in part II. I rewound it like 6 times. LOL I'm just so pathetic about this show.

Yeah, my local station is really cruel. Their website has the Friday and Sunday night timeslot showing, but they actually only show it on Sunday. Not only that, but the TV guide doesn't show it at all so I live in a constant state of fear that the local station will just drop it. GRRRRR.
I actually called them yesterday, and they said it would be on and that the TV guide was wrong. I just hope that my calling them lets them know that there are local fans of the show.
But it's still frustrating. I wanna see it now! I wanted to see it last night!
thayln is now putting her hands in her pockets to avoid hitting the link to all the yummy spoilers. (sigh)

Yeah, the quantum leap reference would have been great. And did anyone else get the feeling that what Scott was really saying to Daniels and TPTB was "Enough, already! No more stories about time travel. I'm sick of them and paradoxes give me a headache! LOL! Poor Scott.
-
My question is who is he defending so fiercely? Is Jonathan lying in a bloody heap behind him? Hmmmmmm...
Could we actually get to see a moment like Spock's reaction to Kirk in the sickbay after he thought he'd killed him?

Archer all the way. He just fascinates me. When I first started watching the show he really reminded me of some of the real astronauts, judging from the 3-d movie about the spacestation and the Right Stuff. He just seemed like a real person, and what a great boss to work for.
Now with season 3 and everything he had to go thru, I'm really interested to see what kind of reprecussions there will be and how he'll deal with them. He's kind of starting to remind me of Jack a little, not in the snarkiness, but in the determination to keep his people safe and the pragmatic do anything to get the job done even if its a "damn distasteful thing". And I love how sneaky he can be.
However, I have to say that I'm really tired of him spending all his time with blood running down his face. The crew really needs to find him and lock him in the sickbay for a week or so. Note to TPTB: Hurt/Comfort means that eventually you get to see people caring about each other, not just keep hurting them with no end in site.

To Quote Steve Martin and Bill Murray,
"What is that?!"
"What the heck is that thing?!"
"Oh I know what it is. Its......What the heck is it?"
I give it a strong 9.

Still in shock from the ending. Alternate Universe? Timeline Manipulation? Frickin paradoxes again!!! My head already hurts. And you gotta wonder when Scott's gonna get fed up and say enough of this time leaping already! I came on this show to do something different.
Things I loved:
Finally, finally we get to see some real reaction from the Senior Staff about what happened to Archer, especially Trip and T'Pol. Great angst without being too sappy. I'm finally really begining to get that they all care deeply for each other.
T'Pol telling Trip that it isn't just about Earth anymore.
Archer and Hoshi, how he can pull the best from his people. And he got his crew out, too.
Malcolm kicking lizard butt.
Archer taking out the bad lizard. Great fight scene and he so needed to die.
:(
But that big gray thing? Didn't his eyes glow? Was he a Go'auld or what? :(

Wouldn't the fact that she immediately "wanted more" be a sign of addiction?
Anyway, I'm not trying to pick nits with you. I totally agree that she was being dumb and irresponsible, especially as a science officer. We'll see, maybe there will be reprocussions in a later episode.
-
QUOTE (thayln @ Apr 23 2004, 02:23 PM)As far as the addiction goes, I got the impression that T'Pol was basically addicted to the stuff with her very first exposure, so it wasn't really her fault.
QUOTE (UnicornHunter)
Is there a particular scene that gave you that impression? I'll go rewatch it but the impression I got is she wanted to experiment with emotions. What really bugs me is she was more concerned with someone finding out rather than feeling regret for the loss she was responsible for.
Yeah, when she finally tell's Plox what's going on, she's describing how it felt coming off that first exposure. That's where I got the feeling she was already addicted. Watch it again and let me know what you think. My tape is at a friend's house right now.

I give it a 9.
This episode made me ache.

Favorite bits:Archer and T'Pol in sickbay and their fight in the ready room, Archer and Phlox's conversation in the dark, and the end scene between him and Trip.As far as the addiction goes, I got the impression that T'Pol was basically addicted to the stuff with her very first exposure, so it wasn't really her fault. Yeah, she was dumb to not go to Phlox with the problem first thing, instead of lying to herself that she could handle it and it would help her relationships with the crew, yadda yadda. Sounds like the rationalizations of an addict to me. I guess even Vulcans aren't perfect, and make stupid decisions from time to time.
I would have liked it better tho, if the writers had her become addicted because she was trying to build up an immunity so Enterprise could use the stuff (nope, not even gonna try to spell it) to protect the ship from anomolies.
As far as Archer's decision goes, I don't see that he had any choice either. For those of us who are SG1 fans also, is this something Jack would have done? Yasureyabetcha, just another "damn distasteful thing" done for the cause.
I don't think Archer made the decision lightly, tho. This whole situation is wrecking havoc with him, and if you need proof, go back and look at him in season one and then take another look at him now. He's looking positively haggard, even without having the **** beat out of him.
I'm really enjoying watching how a good, decent man, an easygoing man who only wants to explore and make friends is being transformed into a warrior and a hero almost against his will. Is it heroic to steal, even out of dire necessity? I don't know. I do think it is heroic to make hard decisions and accept the consequences, no matter how damaging they are to you're ability to sleep at night, however.
I'll bet he he keeps hearing that marauder's voice over and over in his head, "Morality will not serve you well in the Expanse, Captain."

I believe it was early in season 1 where Dr. Phlox lectures Archer about not giving Porthos cheese. It upsets his tummy.
Which kinda makes Archer's request to Plox in Azati Prime seem more poignant to me. I'm all torn up about Archer right now, anyway.
Hope we get to see some hurt/comfort this week.

I generally try to allow myself only one obsession at a time, but unfortunately, I discovered Stargate SG1 shortly after Enterprise started. So now I ping pong back and forth between them.
-
Oh yeah, there's lots of really, really good Stargate stories out there. My favorite one is here: http://salieri.bonuspoints.net/tasteofhoney.html
It's gen (no ship), and team oriented, and really beautiful. All of this author's work is just sooo good. I only wish I could write half as well. (sigh)

Sam, you might want to think about it before you spend money on the season six DVD. I don't know how you feel about it, but Daniel's only in 3 eps the whole season.
For me, I've tried really hard to like Jonas, but the show's just not the same without Daniel, so I've given up on taping season six. Been watching it tho, on Sunday nights, reaalllly late. I thought I was going to get to see Changling then they started over from the begining of the season again.
Frak.
I do have a spoiler for season 8 if anyone's interested. I don't remember where I got it, maybe at Stargate SG1 Solutions. Anyway:
Click for Spoiler:
It looks like Jack is gonna be promoted to General and put in charge of the SGC. SG1 is going to become a 3-person team. However, they plan on writing some stories where Jack still has to go thru the gate with SG1. The article I read said that they are doing this to accomidate Rick's shortened shooting schedule. -
The last movie I saw in the theatre was Hidalgo. Really good, definately movie theatre worthy and I want the DVD when it comes out.
I've also recently gotten caught up in the Desperado/Once upon a Time in Mexico series. I don't know why I liked these movies so much (aside from Antonio, of course) since they're really violent and I don't usually go for that kind of stuff. But I really loved these and will probably watch them again. They just seem to fit a certain snarky dark corner of my brain.

I totally agree with touchthesky. Archer had to be the one to go, not only for his stated reasons, but because he is the fulcrum. Somehow it all turns on him. His plan didn't turn out the way it was supposed to, but all of a sudden he's in a place where he can really get in and work on the Xindi psyche and figure out what's really going on. He's already got Degra doubting and is starting to realize that he can use the fractiosness of the differing species of Xindi to his advantage.
If anyone else had gone, they would have ended up in the same situation, but they wouldn't have been able to take advantage of it like he is beginning to. One thing ya gotta love about Archer, he can play sneaky Machiavellian mind games with the best of them. And there's way more going on here than it appears.
Oh yes, to quote touchthesky, "Archer knows."
I can just see the pieces falling together in his head, and it's raising the hair up on the back of my neck. Can you smell the ozone in the air from the storm that's brewing? It's goona be soooo good.
I can't believe they're gonna make us wait till April. I want my Enterprise NOW!

Quote from Trinneergirl -"T'Pol apparently was so knocked out by the strength of her emotional reactions in Impulse that she began to experiment with Trellium D."
I could really see that. She was obviously really bothered that her problems with the chemical were endangering Enterprise. It would make sense for her to experiment with it to try to build up an immunity or tolerance to it. Poor T'Pol, the Expanse really doesn't like Vulcans, does it?

Stargate and Enterprise are basically the only shows I watch any more, and I love them both dearly. I voted for Stargate simply because I feel that the votes should be more equal between them.
-
Man! SG1 and Enterprise are both tryin' to rip my heart out with a spoon. I am an unashamedly admitted angst junky, but 2 cliffhangers back to back? "For cryin' out loud!"
Click for Spoiler:
I was a little dissapointed that we didn't get any really good Jack/Daniel moments out of Lost City II, till I realized that Daniel is in total stubborn, "I will get him out of this!", mode. The scene between Jack and Teal'c on the ship when Jack had lost the English language really got me. It was one of the most touching I'd ever seen between them.
I agree with Unicorn Hunter about Jack/Sam, though. Implying anything other than deep freindship between them makes me really uncomfortable. It just doesn't ring true for me.
I do wonder how they're going to save Jack. I hope that they don't have to resort to help from the Asgard or Nox or somebody similar. It would be so much cooler for them to figure it out for themselves. Surely Daniel's got some buried knowledge somewhere that can help.
-
I'd have to say Similitude. The confrontation scene between Archer and Sim is one of the most powerful I've ever seen. Scott and Trinner's chemistry is just so strong.
Twilight is a very close second.

I think I'm really really P'd off!!! Stupid local station is playing BASKETBALL!

Who cares about freakin' basketball! And I can't even yell at them cause they don't have a website!
I hope y'all are enjoying the show. (sniff) I guess I'll have to wait till Sunday.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I'll stop whining now.

I really loved it but...

Take kleenex, you'll need it.I saw the first show yesterday morning, and it's still affecting me. What a great trilogy.

Archer. There's no one sexier, on any series.
I like looking at Malcolm and Trip, too, but Scott just does it for me, everytime.

When does Enterprise air in your local area?

We only get it now on Sunday nights at 7p. Used to be on Wednesday and Sunday.
