Theunicornhunter 2 Posted January 29, 2004 I'm sure we all remember that DS9 episode where Jake and Nog made off bigtime trading in stem bolts. I kept wondering what in the world a self sealing stem bolt was. Anyway did anyone notice that scene in Anomaly where they go inside the first sphere. Reed looks around and says "well, they don't need to worry about running out of stem bolts" I couldn't help wonder if that was meant to be an inside joke. Anyway I thought it was funny. He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted January 29, 2004 I think stem bolts are like the explanation for Klingon foreheads. We're probably better off not knowing too much.

nik 0 Posted January 29, 2004 I'm not sure if they're the same, but in real life, they are pretty much just.... bolts. I think there is a top portion that is usually unthreaded, which makes them useful for holes in which a portion is not or can not be threaded (e.g., a pivot point, such as the headset of a bicycle). Self-sealing - probably exists, but I don't know.
