VaBeachGuy 12 Posted December 31, 2003 Well Black Monday hit the NFL the other day and carried into Tuesday and will likely carry into wednesday as well. Black Monday is what the first Monday after the last game of the regular season is called, the reason for that name is because that's usually when the largest number of coach firings take place. This Black Monday saw several coaches lose their jobs, none were really surprises though. Arizona Cardinals Dave McGinnis, Buffalo Bills Gregg Williams and Chicago Bears (Please stop me from cursing) Jauron were the victims of this years Black Monday. On Tuesday Washington Redskins coach Steve Spurrier announced his resignation which came as a mild surprise to some but it was clear that Spurrier wouldn't last long in Washington. His overall record was 12-20 in 2 seasons. Other coaches that were fired before the season ended were Atlanta Falcons Dan Reeves and New York Giants Jim Fassel. Reeves opted to leave before the season ended while Fassel decided to coach his final 2 games. On Wednesday it is expected that Oakland Raiders coach Bill Callahan will also be fired. Now it will be interesting to see if these same coaches land positions with each others ex teams.
