Well, here in America, it works like this:

(age provided is the age you start the grade in)

Kindergarden - Age 5

Grade 1 - Age 6 / Grade 7 - Age 12

Grade 2 - Age 7 / Grade 8 - Age 13

Grade 3 - Age 8 / Grade 9 - Age 14

Grade 4 - Age 9 / Grade 10 - Age 15

Grade 5 - Age 10 / Grade 11 - Age 16

Grade 6 - Age 11 / Grade 12 - Age 17

1st Year of College - Age 18 (provided you're fresh out of High School)

Is this any different than Australlia?

first exam down!

that was easy! there were 3 sections in the exam...comprehension, essay and essay. I wrote a page for the two comprehension questions, they were answering a question relating to an article by Micheal Moore about Flints poverty and school shootings.

In the second section, i didnt think was very strong, it was about poems, like how they are "vehicles for social commentary and / or protest".

The third section was interesting and fun, "Though their primary objectives are to entertain, how are our values and attitudes reinforced or challenged?" for this i wrote what seemed like 4 pages on "24".

overall it was good! <_< human biology's next, not studying today, must rest!
