Lin helmed four of the films that grossed $1.9 billion in worldwide box office. He replaces Roberto Orci, who got that job after being involved as co-writer of the revamped Star Trek series. The first two installments were directed by Abrams, who then left to direct a revival of the Star Wars franchise with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. http://deadline.com/2014/12/star-trek-3-justin-lin-director-fast-furious-helmer-1201333753/ 1 CurtisEt reacted to this

BakulaBabe 2 Posted December 25, 2014 I'm a little worried about that choice, because I haven't seen any of his other movies (no interest), but I enjoy the TV show he's involved with, Scorpion. I was really hoping for Jonathan Frakes. Oh well! :)
GhostofMajorHayes 10 Posted January 11, 2015 Justin Lin is a superb choice. He will helm Star Trek back to greatness ( yes, it can get better than the last film).
