Late news has come that Trek Director Winrich Kolbe passed away in late September.

Kolbe, aged seventy-one, had resigned his post for health reasons back in 2007 to return to California. He had been working as a professor of Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

In all, Kolbe directed forty-eight episodes of Star Trek, across four television series ranging from Star Trek: The Next Generation to Star Trek: Enterprise.

Episodes of note included Darmok, All Good Things, Blood Oath, Our Man Bashir, The Siege of AR-558, Caretaker, Scorpion Part II and Thirty Days.

Born in Germany, Kolbe began his directing work in the 1970s, and worked on shows such as the original Battlestar Galactica, Barnaby Jones, The Rockford Files, CHIPS, T.J. Hooker, Knight Rider, Spenser: For Hire, Hunter, In the Heat of the Night, and 24.
