The studio wants to finish casting the main role so it can move on to casting other roles for Spider-Man, which begins production before the end of the year. Yelchin joins a list of contenders including: Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) and Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro).
