Woman nabbed twice for DUI on same night in 2 cars

Recommended Posts

LINCOLN, Neb. – Police arrested a woman twice in one night in two different cars for driving drunk. Police spokeswoman Katie Flood said the woman was pulled over at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday after she allegedly made an illegal turn and was spotted swerving down a south Lincoln street.

The officer who stopped her said her blood-alcohol level was .19. That's more than twice the legal limit. The woman was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence and negligent driving and taken to a detoxification center.

Flood said the same officer stopped the woman again about two hours later. This time she was driving her boyfriend's car. She was arrested for driving under the influence and negligent driving and taken to jail. Her blood-alcohol level then tested at .154.

Driving is they say a privelege, not a right. When anyone abuses it, putting others at risk, they should be woken up about their behavior...or else lose that right. I know of someone who lost their husband to a possibly drunk driver. That's not to be tolerated.

Why would they let her go after the first offense?

In many states if you have no criminal or DWI/DUI record you leave jail on your own recognizance, no bail required. You must promise to appear at trial or be subject to arrest. In others your regular license is confiscated and you get a temporary permit good until your trial.

well here in illinois it's set up like this, first time you get 30 days suspended license and up to 30 days community service, however, you have to pay up to 500 bucks for the state to install a tester in your car, so each time before you drive, you have to give a breathalyzer test, second time you lose your license up three months, and 60 days of community service or 30 days in county jail, third strike you loose your license up to five years, one year jail sentence in county, and a pretty hefty fine....
