Anyone care to comment on why they think these Klingon prison guards are wearing helmets?

 

I think they wanted to honor canon regarding ridgeless Klingons of this era but having plain old ridgeless Klingons would not have had much visual interest so ridged helmets were used instead.

 

I would not have minded the use of ENT style ridgeless Klingons, they looked badass imo, but I guess the helmets are a fine way of dealing with that issue.

My thought, is that the helmets may serve as both a protective measure-i.e., the harsh external environment-and I assume Klingons are froma predominantly warm planet?..I do make out what look like a ridged element in the design..shrug. At any rate, they look cool. And in such a place, a cold, faceless group of guards, would only heighten the psychological effect on a prisoner of a harsh locale..where NOONE matters....
