Voyager recruit 0 Posted January 25, 2009 My take is that during the period between the Tomed Incident, and TNG's ''The Neutral Zone'', a terrible plague began to ravage the Empire. Perhaps this was a great reason for their self-imposed isolation...as well as a possible contact, as I think was implied on the series, with the Borg. At any rate, the solution by the Empire's best experts resulted in one teeny alteration of the genome-a fair price to pay for survival-was the most notable change in their facial structures. Or, here is yet one more idea: the producers just pretended there was no difference...shrug. Maybe the plague originated long, long ago, during the exodus from Vulcan; those early travellers may have been exposed to some form of radiation, or such, and it was cured...only to resurface centuries later. Well, those are just thoughts. Any opinions, gang?
