Scientists eye unusual swarm of Yellowstone quakes <br /> (AP)

AP - Yellowstone National Park was jostled by a host of small earthquakes for a third straight day Monday, and scientists watched closely to see whether the more than 250 tremors were a sign of something bigger to come. Swarms of small earthquakes happen frequently in Yellowstone, but it's very unusual for so many earthquakes to happen over several days, said Robert Smith, a professor of geophysics at the University of Utah.

This area could be due for a volcanic eruption, which is a pretty scary thought. I love visiting Yellowstone and the Tetons, but they have strong natural forces below which could wreak havoc if released.

Wreck havoc is a vast understatement. If the Yellowstone volcano explodes, there's a good possibility of it shattering the entire North American tectonic plate. The explosion would be felt all the way to where I am in PA, several hundred miles away.
