It isn't that big of a change. I was expecting a total re-do, I like the new look

 

This is a reboot, it doesn't have to look 100%

I am now of the opinion this ship is only a result of timeline tampering. Repairs, I assume by Old Spock, will restore things to normal by films end.

After all the swearing up and down, promising it would be faithful to canon JJ was doing, it is the only thing that I can think of that reconciles all of the changes we're seeing.
