oldfan1 0 Posted September 13, 2008 The first time I met Joanie was in 1975 or 76 at a 1 day Star Trek mini-con in Baltimore. She was a really cool lady. She could tell stories and jokes for hours on end. She made many appearances at conventions over the years and was always great with fans, but then again she was a fan. I got to talk with her several times over the years and she was always polite, funny and a great part of fandom. I still have my copy of Star Trek Lives! autographed by all of the authors at that first con. I bought that book a year or 2 before the con and never thought that I would ever get to meet the authors. That little con was my introduction to fandom and I'm glad that she had a part in introducing me to fandom. Joanie you will be missed by all of us that were privileged to know you and we all owe you and the committee of the New York cons for your efforts, without you we would never have had all of the cons over the years and fandom would not have blossomed as it did for many years
