DaboGirl 7 Posted September 1, 2008 Star Trek: Plot Revealed (SPOILERS) By Bob Alpi ⋅ August 31, 2008 The writers of the new Star Trek movie have let the tribbles out of the bag during an appearance on the Fox Movie channel, Chud.com reports. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were kind enough to discuss the plot line of latest Star Trek film, and in doing so explained how the film will fit within the overall cosmology of the franchise. The story starts in “current time” (think the Next Generation era) and involves a plot by the Romulans to go back and time to kill James T. Kirk (Chris Pine). Without Kirk to thwart their plans, the timeline will be altered and the Romulans will be able to topple the Federation. Learning of this plan, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) follows them back through time to save his old friend. Putting aside this Terminator-esque aspect of the plot, the concept raises some interesting possibilities. Once the intrepid crew of the Enterprise deal with this threat, future movies could follow different courses. Were the timeline to be altered in some way, they could effectively erase all we know about the history of Star Trek. For example, Jean Luc could end up making wine instead of joining Star Fleet. Another possibility is the establishing of an alternate timeline where the crew could seek out life irregardless to what we have seen before. While enduring the long wait until May, watch PCZ for more developments. Star Trek is due in theaters May 8th, 2009 Link: http://popculturezoo.com/archives/1082
Jack_Bauer 1 Posted September 1, 2008 Speculation. Kurtzman and Orci make no mention of the plot of the movie during their appearance on Life After Film School, at least in the clips I've seen. They merely discuss how to label the film (i.e. prequel vs. reboot, etc). This story is mainly just one website extrapolating based on existing facts and claiming it was in said TV show (the story showed up when only the one clip was released) and a bunch of others picking it up. Now, this story could end up being true and does sound somewhat plausible but it wasn't revealed by Kurtzman and Orci. With all the secrecy surrounding this film, I sincerely doubt Kurtzman and Orci would leak the plot on a show that isn't even made by Paramount.
