Kor37 9 Posted August 12, 2008 Iowa man cited after botched attempt to neuter dog -A Des Moines man accused of using a razor blade in a botched attempt to neuter a friend's dog has been charged with improper care and treatment of animals. Police say Hung Doc Vu was issued a misdemeanor citation on Monday and faces a fine of up to $500. Officials say 49-year-old told them he had been taught the procedure by his father and grandfather, but he has no veterinary license or training. Police say they have no indication that Vu was trying to be malicious when he attempted to remove the schnauzer's testicles on Aug. 2 with a razor blade and no pain medication. The dog's owner took the animal in for emergency treatment. Police say the dog, named Pooper, was treated and released. ___ :)
Theunicornhunter 2 Posted August 12, 2008 They do pretty much the same thing to livestock - cows & pigs. Perhaps things have changed due to awareness of the situation but that barbecue you're eating probably didn't get anesthesia when he got snipped.
MrPsychic 1 Posted August 12, 2008 To me, that sounds like a horrific crime. I'm surprised it's only a misdemeanor, I would have charged him with animal cruelty.
GhostofMajorHayes 10 Posted August 12, 2008 Not too uncommon. In many places animal cruelty is a misdemeanor. I just hope the dog recovers without complications.
