LCARS 24

Delta Flyer MSD

Recommended Posts

This should clear up the question of boarding via the aft hatch and location of the cargo bay, as well as disspell the notion that the aft section doesn't fit. The rear hatch opens in the same manner as with other Starfleet shuttlecraft. The boarding ladder provides access to the upper level from the aft section when stowed. It can be seen in VOY: Timeless. When the rear hatch is open, the ladder leads from the hatch door (which serves as a ramp) to the aft section.

Here are the type 8 and type 9. There are 19 Starfleet MSDs like this and a few NASA ones in my lastest regular version of LCARS 24 recently posted for download. I haven't updated the Windows version. One of these days I'll put a full gallery of them on my Web site.

You can always upload them here to the STF.net gallery too. :superhappy:

Then more people can see your work.

How do you make those? I do a lot of starship designing and I'd love to be able to make MSDs.

Most people do them with Adobe Illustrator. I have a different method. Some of the ones in LCARS 24 were done by other people, all with Illustrator. Credit, if any, is on the botttom bracket, even for ones done partially by contributors.

I just put together a gallery of just the Starfleet stuff (21 schematics), and fixed them to come up at full resolution when you click on a thumbnail. The others are all NASA things done up in the same LCARS style.

So that's where the Oberth's shuttlebay is.....

Sure. See the doors?

Yeah, you're right. I guess I just never noticed.:)

What I can't figure out, is how do people get from the lower part of the ship to the upper. Do they just beam up?

That question came up with the Steamrunner class, too. You can see in my Steamrunner schematic that I have a turboshaft running along one nacelle and down that pylon, keeping in mind that the direction of artificial gravity is whatever you need it to be, and the pylons on the Steamrunner are thick enough.

But it's not that easy with the Oberth class--ladderways in the plyons (since they're too slender for turboshafts), doing what you like the moment with artificial gravity and sliding, using the rungs, whatever you feel like, or beaming. It has one transporter room in each hull.

NICE! I love your MSDs!

Are you going to do the Peregrine class?

Well, a regular contributor of artwork to my LCARS library just whipped this up, and I'll ask him about a version in keeping with the style of the rest of the library. I may have do do a lot of editing, but it looks pretty good so far.

Is there another site those others are on?

Yes. It's called LCARS Community. Two of the members have provided artwork for LCARS 24, and the guy who made the Luna class and Maquis raider has agreed to make versions in the same colors I use so they can be included in the next release of my LCARS software package.

I mostly want to concentrate on building my collection of NASA MSDs. I posted two new ones above. This one I made about a year ago:

The one for the Space Shuttle is old. I may want to fix it up a bit.

I just have one thing to say about these schematics-AWESOME!!!Way to go!! I'd swear Mike Okuda himself did them-seriously! You should come up with your own st ships, as well, from scratch!
