ZION, Ill. (AP) - Steve Kreuscher wants a judge to allow him to legally change his name. He wants to be known as "In God We Trust."

Kreuscher (CROY'-shir) says the new name would symbolize the help God gave him through tough times.

The 57-year-old man also told the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald he's worried that atheists may succeed in removing the phrase "In God We Trust" from U.S. currency.

He recalls that the phrase "God Reigns" was removed from the Zion city seal in 1992 after courts deemed it unconstitutional. Zion was founded as a theocracy - by a sect that believed the Earth was flat.

The school bus driver and amateur artist in the northern Chicago suburb says he has filed a petition to change his name in Lake County Circuit Court.

It's too bad people dont' find meaningful volunteer work since they really don't seem to have anything to do with their lives.

Not only that but is this guy deemed sane?

What is frightening is that he is a school bus driver driving children.

It is a democracy after all. He is an adult and if he wants to change his name to something that others find absurd, then that is his prerogative. After all, God does have a name according to the bible and it is Jehovah. So, he really isn't showing any disrespect here.

I thought his name was YHWH.

That is correct also. Jehovah is an English reading of the tetragrammaton יְהֹוָה

The original YHWH as you pointed out is his correct and accurate name. YHWH has been phoenetically Jehovah since the time of Christianity. Prior to this, it was considered somewhat disrespectful in the Jewish faith to pronounce the almighty's name. Thanks for bringing the traditional Jewish rendering of his name to our attention, my learned friend. :)
