Kor37 9 Posted March 3, 2008 LI town to vote on Silly String ban, claiming fire truck damageAP Posted: 2008-03-03 13:27:47 HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - The Huntington Town Council is set to vote on whether to ban the use of Silly String during parades and other public events. A public hearing on the resolution is set for Tuesday, with the council voting on it later in the day. A decision would come days before the town's St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday. The resolution was proposed because the town claims the product - a colored liquid fired as a stream from an aerosol can - mars the finish on fire trucks. Manufacturer Just for Kicks has said it's not familiar with the fire truck claim, but that the label includes cleaning instructions. Silly String has been banned under anti-littering laws along parade routes in Connecticut, Louisiana, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Texas. When I used to go to the 4th of July parades, I used to shoot this stuff at politicians I didn't like....
MrPsychic 1 Posted March 3, 2008 Silly String isn't that bad to cars finishes, I sprayed my dad's work car when I was young, and just waited for it to dry and peeled it off.

ddillard 2 Posted March 3, 2008 Yeah, the cheap brands which is what most people use around here can be almost impossible to completely remove.
