Delivery Man Saves Angry Woman From Fire

OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A man who kicked down a door to rescue a woman from a burning building was surprised at the greeting he received.

"She was mad at me for coming in," said Allen Donehoo, a delivery man who noticed smoke billowing out of the building Friday. "I said 'I'm sorry, there's a fire' and tried to get her out. She wasn't coming too easily."

Smoke was entering the basement apartment even as the woman resisted Donehoo's rescue attempt. Donehoo said she was worried about her cats, which he thinks were all rescued.

"I don't think she realized the severity of it," he said. "The whole top of the building was in flames."

The woman's apartment was one of three in the building. Investigators believe an unattended candle in one of the other apartments started the fire. There were no injuries.

What a ding dong. He should have waited until she started sizzling and then asked her if she was ready to go yet..... :nono:

She was hot under the collar ... and didn't realize it was because her shoes were on fire :nono: !

On the other hand, I understand worrying about cats in a fire. A friend had two cats go through a smoky fire, one was found afterward, they both survived, but she was a wreck!

It doesn't say how old the woman was - but I've seen the elderly be very cautious of people who come to their door - much less those that kick it in.

As for the cats, some people would die looking for their cats. I have a relative who has a sign on their door in case of fire which says how many cats live in the home - doesn't mention how many people. :nono:

Trekz - you missed that she was hot and bothered by the deliveryman.

OMG you're right TUH. It turns out she was both attracted and repelled by the fact that the deliveryman started serenading her with the song "Come on Baby light my fire" as he tried to remove her from the building....
