Kor37 9 Posted December 17, 2007 Woman's body found day after car crash in LAAP Posted: 2007-12-17 04:52:04 LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police said they found the body of an elderly woman in a vehicle a day after her son was pulled from the same car that had been involved in a crash. The woman, whose identity wasn't released, was discovered Sunday in the front passenger seat at a tow yard in the San Fernando Valley. It only came to the attention of investigators after family members said there were two relatives missing and not one. "We conducted a follow-up to the tow yard, and we discovered the woman inside the vehicle," said police Officer Mike Lopez said. "She was dead." Police were trying to determine how paramedics and others had left behind the woman at Saturday's accident scene. The vehicle carrying the woman and her son hit a parked car in a bank parking lot and then crashed into a building, authorities said. The man was taken to a hospital but his name and condition were not made available. The car was then towed about seven miles to the impound yard, where it sat overnight. The woman was found beneath an air bag that had deployed during the crash, police said. "There are a lot of questions and we don't have all of the answers," Lopez said, adding that authorities are "conducting an investigation surrounding this unfortunate incident." Coroner's officials could not immediately determine at what time the woman died or what the cause of death could be. "The doctors may have a conclusion after the autopsy if this person died instantly or not," coroner's spokesman Lt. John Kades said. "That's a possibility, but there's no way to tell or predict." :) Yeah..........BIG lawsuit coming for LA!

trekz 7 Posted December 17, 2007 What an awful thing to happen! I feel awful for the victim's family. Wouldn't you suppose that rescue personnel or police are supposed to check if an airbag has deployed as to whether anyone might be under it? A case in the Chicagoland area, South suburbs or Gary area, recently had personnel missing two deceased victims who were thrown OUT of a car in a crash. That is awful, but seems less outrageous that this case imo.
