Wishfire

Thirty days free!

Recommended Posts

It's been one month since my last cigarette!

I've been smoking fo 11 years, and have tried many times to quit. This has been the longest I've gone. (My record before this was four days. )

It's not so bad now as it was during the first two weeks, but I still find myself wanting a cigarette from time to time. I'll just have to keep gritting my teeth, I suppose.

One thing that annoys me, though, is when people say it takes 10 years to fully quit.

But I'm still feeling proud of myself right now.

I wish you all the luck and you have my prayers for your continued success. I've been where you're at. You will so notice changes, many awesome changes. And you will know that any challenges you go through will be worth it and will get easier.

Are you using anything to help or just doing it cold-turkey? I quit using Chantix about 4 months ago.

I applaud you more than you can imagine for going cold-turkey. I smoked for over 12 years and tried countless times cold-turkey. The longest I made it was like 2-3 days. I tried all the Nicotine replacement stuff (thanks 2 friends helping me pay for them) and didn't do much better. The Chantix, which my insurance covers, is an amazing thing. You actually get to the point where you forget all about cigarettes. It blocks Nicotine receptors in the brain so you don't even have the cravings.

But if you can go cold-turkey, that's better than any other way.

Congratulations - you should be happy with yourself. I wish you the best of luck in sticking with it - it should continue to get easier. But maybe you should work out another way to deal with stress before you hit a stressful spot - that's when it will get hard.
