Stephen of Borg 2 Posted March 6, 2007 I was on I-985 this morning and the traffic was horrible, I got to Flowery Branch it was cut off and I wondered what happened, well, this is what it was FLOWERY BRANCH - A manhunt near Flowery Branch is over and one home invasion suspect is dead and another in custody. Maj. Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Office says one armed suspect was shot and killed during a confrontation with a Flowery Branch police officer after their car was stopped on I-985 southbound near Exit 12; the other was arrested about noon at an apartment complex near Thurmond Tanner Road where he had been tracked by a SWAT team and tracking dogs. The home invasion occurred about 10:00 this morning on Whiting Drive off Browns Bridge Road. Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating the home invasion. The shooting is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The state DOT's Teri Pope said at 12:30 that both southbound lanes of 985 at Exit 12, which had been closed while the manhunt was in progress, had been reopened.
