Star Wreck to Feature in Fan Film Chat,

Recommended Posts

TrekUnited is delighted to announce that the production staff of Energia Productions - the group that brought you "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning," is joining us for our second TrekUnited Fan Film Chat. Samuli Torssonen, Timo Vuorensola and Jarmo Puskala - Producer, Director and Writer of Star Wreck - will be in the TrekUnited Chat Room on Nov 4 at 2:00 PM EDT, timed especially to suit our friends in Europe (9pm Helsinki) as well as in the US.

Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning has enjoyed phenomenal success over the course of the year since it's release in October, 2005 and is now credited as being the most popular Finnish film of all time! Previously, the most popular Finnish movie was Edvin Laine's The Unknown Soldier (1955) which had a Finnish theatre attendance figure of 2.8 million which cannot compare with the more than four million downloads that Star Wreck can boast to date.

Star Wreck hit the news this month with the announcement that Universal Pictures have made a groundbreaking distribution deal to market a new edition of Star Wreck - "The Imperial Edition". This will be a double DVD set to go on sale, Dec 13, in stores and rental outlets "on a Nordic level". The new release is a major redesign of the original (a parody of both Star Trek and Babylon 5) matching more closely Executive Producer, Samuli Torssonen's, original vision.

This latest news could be seen to vindicate earlier statements by Energia that espoused alternative networks of support, finance and distribution for non-Hollywood film producers that they have christened the Raven's Nest method . Their ideas could offer hope and inspiration to Independant filmmakers and fan film makers who want to make that next step towards professional production in the global market.

Whether you are an Indie or fan film maker, or a Star Trek or Babylon 5 fan hooked on Star Wreck, don't miss this chance to talk to Samuli, Timo and Jarmo. Whether you want to talk about the past (Samuli's twelve year background in fan film making) or the future (their next film, "Iron Sky") - don't be shy!

Log on to the TrekUnited forum here, to talk about what could be a groundbreaking event!

See you there!
