What Chinese elements rule your life?

Your dominant element is water. The ancient Yin-Yang scholars saw water types as people who usually didn't mind spending a little time by themselves. Do some people think you brood too much or are a bit of a loner? It may be that you just happen to enjoy your own company. Honesty probably means a lot to you--if there's one thing water types can't stand, it's people who tell lies, even "little" white lies. Do you love the beach, the pool or even just hot baths? Water types are happiest near water.

Water has no defined shape and is related to a strong sense of imagination that defies set boundaries.

Calmness is the dominant elemental energy of water and this helps us to make decisions that are smart and well-considered.

Water can stand still or flow. Prevailing stillness promotes peace of mind while flowing water energizes.

To enhance both the soothing and stimulating qualities, the water energy needs to be near real water. It doesn't have to be the ocean or a river--an aquarium or even floating candles in your house should be more than sufficient.

A cold climate is best for the water energy, as it prevents it from evaporating into steam. The color that corresponds to water is black. Water types like salty foods.

NOTE: Water types tend to have curvy hips and often look like they are deep in thought, even if they're not.

Your dominant element is earth. Even if you sometimes pretend otherwise, do you kind of like hanging out with your folks or siblings? The ancient Yin-Yang scholars saw earth types as pretty family-oriented. Also, they are generally trusted by their friends and, being very reliable and responsible, rarely disappoint them. Earth people like to invite friends over for low-key activities like watching movies or just to hang out.

Do you have a fairly stable temper? It's not easy getting Earth types worked up.

Even if you grab a handful of earth and throw it up in the air it will always settle back to the ground. The element earth is therefore related to stability.

Trustworthiness is the dominant feature of the elemental energy of earth. This promotes the loyalty and responsibility in us.

If it isn't disturbed, earth can be very stationary. The earth element therefore allows us to sit still for a while and not to change our mind too often.

Things that provide security will encourage the positive qualities of earth. Everything from a sturdy bag to a well-built house can fulfill the need for safety.

A humid climate is best for earth as it keeps the earth damp and stops it from getting blown away. The colors that correspond to it are yellow and brown.

Earth types are known for having a sweet tooth.

NOTE: Earth types look huggable. They tend to have full cheeks and a generous mouth.

Your dominant element is wood. The ancient Yin-Yang scholars saw wood types as true nature lovers--could you happily do without a TV? Wood people are generally very driven, eager to be the best at whatever they do. They just need to remember not to get too frustrated if things don't turn out exactly as planned...

The nature of wood is embodied in a tree. Wood encourages a tendency to aim high while at the same time keeping your feet firmly on the ground. Trees grow patiently. The element of wood helps us to plan things in a logical and practical way. Trees often try to outgrow each other to get the best light and to develop the strongest roots. The wood element therefore encourages a competitive attitude.

Natural environments inspire the positive qualities of wood. But the high buildings of a city can also stabilize the connection between the sky and the ground.

A windy climate is best for wood as it helps blow old leaves off the twigs and branches and stimulates new growth. The color that is associated with wood is green.

Wood types enjoy sour treats.

NOTE: Wood types tend to be either tall like trees or short like bushes. They often have strong eyebrows or a prominent jawline.
