finally good news to hear that the Manatees are off the Endangered List (I've also a sweatshirt with a picture of them).

While the increassed numbers being reported are encouraging, I agree that it may partially be a case of more complete reporting. With increased loss of habitat, more people and presumably more boat traffic, I think manatees should have been kept on the endangered list until their numbers really jumped. From all the andecdotal evidence I hear and see, large parts of coastal Florida are being rapidly developed and that would mean less habitat and more interaction with humans and boats - often a bad thing for manatees.
