Odo 0 Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) 3 years ago they lost 119 games. Now they have the best record in baseball 34-14 Yes its early in the season. but can anyone remeber back to 1987 when they had a winning record this far into the season. if they play 500 the rest of the year they will win 90 plus games being from detroit its refreshing to here somrthing besides the red wings or pistons even though the tigers are not getting any respect from the national media Edited May 25, 2006 by Odo
trekz 7 Posted May 25, 2006 Yes it IS an amazing turnaround by a team in a strong division. If they keep winning they will earn the media's respect eventually. It did take quite a while for the media to respect the White Sox last year, which may be explained because so much of the media is concentrated on the coasts, and can often ignore teams in the heartland (or rust belt )
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted May 25, 2006 As a devout Tigers fan, I'm thrilled by their current record. As a longtime Tigers fan, I know better than to get my hopes up. Screw Orwell. 1984 was a *great* year!
Madame Butterfly 0 Posted May 26, 2006 The Roar of '84, still have the grass from the infield from the night we had tickets, though it's been so long, I can't remember which game # it was.
Odo 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Update its now july 27th and the Tigers still have the best record in baseball. At 68-33 and a 8 1/2 game lead in there division. can you belive it and the best road record to at 35-13 GO TIGERS!
trekz 7 Posted July 28, 2006 The Tigers certainly have my respect thus far for their amazing record. I have heard some of their fans say they are getting all the breask and getting calls and errors from other teams when they need them. That is in no way a put down of the Tigers, becuase it takes a great team to consistently cash in on lucky breaks. It sounds and looks like they may be a team of destiny The White sox are in a real slump. But there are still a lot of games to play. It is refreshing to that division so strong with Detroit, Chicago and Minnesota all with impresive to very good records.
Odo 0 Posted August 17, 2006 August 15th Tigers still have a 6 1/2 Game lead lost to the red sox's tonight but 2 of 3 still have the best record in baseball
Kor37 9 Posted August 17, 2006 The Tigers are doing great this year. Good for them! Much better than this minor league team we have around here called the Orioles...............
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted August 17, 2006 I'm actually starting to get my hopes up, too. Freakin' stoked. I don't know what Leyland does that Trammell couldn't, but it's incredible. Granderson is a future hall of famer at this rate. Mark my words. Amazing player. He has really been on fire. And how about Bonderman and Robertson and Verlander? Wicked awesome. Thames still doing well, as is Guillen and of course, good old Pudge. I still couldn't believe Kenny Rogers would be so welcome in the mitten state seeing how he got so vehemently booed at last year's all-star game at Comerica, but hey, he's helping us out incredibly too. It's a wonderful thing all around. Have they clinched a berth yet? I haven't seen a sports page in ages, so I don't know, other than I think they're still close to being 40 games over .500. BOO-YAH!!!!
Odo 0 Posted August 24, 2006 august 24th Tigers still have the best record in baseball 81-46 still 35 games over 500. and a 61/2 lead. will not count my chickens but looking good for the boys that have been the laughing stock of baseball the last few years. 35 games left if they play 500 the rest of the way.they will will win 98 games means chi soxs or minn. will have to win at least 25 of there last games to knock them off. Looking good. We may have finally restored the roar. (instead of the mew ) GO TIGERS
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted August 28, 2006 Ok, I'm starting to worry. They're starting to stink again. Still the best record and all, but this horrendous losing pattern is starting to get pretty annoying. They're starting to go the way of all Detroit pro teams: clutching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Odo 0 Posted September 8, 2006 09-08 06 Tigers just beat the Twins back to a 5 game lead. Twins are in second place 3 games left in this series white sox fading. Could this be the year :P Even if it is not Jim Leland is manager of the year what he has did to make the kittens to tigers again is unbeliveable. from laughling stock to contender. the future looks good. trekz 7 Posted September 25, 2006 The Detroit Tigers deserve lots of credit for this tremendous turnaround. I'm not so happy with the play of The White Sox , but they are in a tough division this year. Hopefully they can win a few more as the season ends and try to go out with some class, then work on improving next year. Congrats again Detroit Fans! You deserve it! Odo 0 Posted September 25, 2006 (edited) Even though they have clinched the wild card. with a 1 1/2 game lead in the division and 6 games left. 3 against Toronto blue jays 3 with Kansas city royals who they have beat 14 of 15 they still have a chance not only to win the division but still end up with the best record in baseball. all 6 games are at home. GO TIGERS RESTORE THE ROAR : Edited September 25, 2006 by Odo
Madame Butterfly 0 Posted September 26, 2006 Hey Odo, I got to see them play this summer when I returned home for a visit. I dont like them not being at the stadium where there was a roar in '84, but I do like them beating up on the White Sox. Go Tigers!!!
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted September 27, 2006 I was only 3 during the Roar of '84. This would make me very happy. C'mon Tigers! Clobber the Jays! I'd wish them luck against the Royals... but it's the Royals. They don't need any luck.
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted October 2, 2006 Yeah, we don't need luck against the Royals alright. Sheesh. Now we're only the wild card. I freakin' hate the Twins.
Kor37 9 Posted October 2, 2006 I hope the Tigers go all the way! After the Orioles 9th straight losing season, I need SOMEONE to root for!
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted October 2, 2006 I find it unlikely, unfortunately. First stop: the Yankees. The Yankees have pwned the Tigers longer than I've been a baseball fan.

trekz 7 Posted October 8, 2006 (edited) Yes, the damn Yankees - they gone! No subway series this year! I'm now hoping for a Cardinals - Tigers World Series, but more realistically it will probably be the Mets and Tigers. GO TIGERS!
