Stephen of Borg 2 Posted March 22, 2006 Paramount Home Entertainment has plans to rerelease the Star Trek series on DVD in Region 2 in slim-line budget packs. The United Federation of Planets web site reports that Paramount Home Entertainment UK plans a new series of DVD releases for 2006 as part of its 40th anniversary celebration of Star Trek. Beginning with Star Trek: The Next Generation, each series will be repackaged and released season-by-season in a slender pack with no extras, only the episodes. The first re-release, on May 1st, will reportedly be priced at £34.99, a significant reduction from the £84.99 that previous sets cost. Themed releases will also likely be released in Region 2 as they have in Region 1, including the Borg, time travel and Q "Fan Collective" box sets. However, Star Trek: The Animated Series has been withdrawn for the time being. A Paramount spokesperson who gave no reason for the delay said that it was "as disappointing for us as I'm sure the news will be for fans."
