Firefly vs Trek

Okay, I know that is kinda stupid question, because it seems like everyone here is completely in love with Trek (I know I am).

 

It's just that my friend and I got in an arguement. See, she's a huge Firefly fan, and she said that Firefly was better that all the Star Trek series. Well, I said that was bogus and we got into this huge fight.

 

So, I was thinking, which do you guys think is better? And why is which side better than the other? I just want to be able to see both views of the matter.

I think FireFly and Trek are equally good in different ways so for me it's a tie and anyhow Firefly was a very short lived series and just did one movie while Trek has 5 series and 10 films in comparison

 

btw in Timeline wise I'd see Enterprise then TOS then TOS 6 films(" TMP-TUC") then TNG and TNG's 4 films ("Generations-Nemesis") and in between DS9/Voyager .

I enjoy both continuums as being both equally and different genres altogether.

 

Firefly is a bit like 1930s sci-fi [serial-wise] whereas Star Trek borrowed upon the classic Forbidden Planet and morality tales [for the most part].

Even though Star Trek has a broader scope and longer air-time, I enjoy the retroness of Firefly more so since I love the concept of Westerns in space and my favourite Trek series is TOS due to its camp.

 

Mostly now-a-days, I look forward to a possible continuation of the Firefly series, but the outlook seems as doubtful akin as to whether or not there will ever be a Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League.. :biggrin:

Firefly is good, but for me, it doesn't have longevity. I watched pretty much the entire series, but I have no desire to watch any of the episodes again any time soon. I like it, but it's not better than Star Trek if I had to choose between the two.

Firefly and Star Trek each have their good qualities. I, myself am a big fan of both.

I have not seen any Firefly but I have seen Serenity and I did not like it. Star Trek is far superior in every way.

a critic who didn't see Firefly and watched Serenity wrote in their review that it was like taking the final exams in college without being in class all semester.

 

I still haven't seen the movie yet, but I plan to one day

I've never seen Firefly, so of course Trek is better!
