Who Am I ?

I was the Captain of a ship that was destroyed while investigating an unusual energy barrier around a distant planet. Marooned on that planet, I managed to establish communication with a ship returning to a space station in the Federation. But, unknown to me, my communications were traveling into the future. They were able to get to me in 5 days but by then I had already been dead for 3 years.
