Created by ANDREA IZZOTTI

iotian2.jpg

Discovered in the beginning era of the interstellar journeys, the humanoid culture of Iotia has been contaminated from the terrestrial one before he enters vigor the Prime Directive : the Iotians has modeled their society on a book on the gangsters, "Chicago Mobs of the Twenties", forsaked from the USS Horizon a century before stellar date 4598.0. The consequence has been the developement of an aberrant social based structure on criminal similar elements to those of America (Earth) of the beginning of the 20th century. Though this contamination has carried to the planetary unification, the consequences have been an extreme poverty and a needless shedding of blood. From the intervention of the Enterprise in date 4598, the sociological teams of the Federation have driven the Iotians in the direction of a form of more ethical government.

Those lovable, highly-imitative Iotians. I'm sure it didn't take them long to figure out how McCoy's communicator worked. But I bet they're still trying to master the game of Fizzbin.

Love this episode.Hard to believe a single book could have that sort of influence on an entire civilization. But,who knows? We're talking Star Trek here. Can you imagine what these folks would've been like if somebody left behind a Monty Python film?
