The Enterprise comes across a disabled freighter and rescues three Klingons onboard before the ship explodes. Worf must decide where his loyalties lie when the two surviving Klingons try to convince him to join them and discover the warrior within him.

 

Heart of Glory marked the first appearance of Vaughn Armstrong in a Star Trek series. He would go on to set a record for the most guest appearances playing different characters through four series. For trivia buffs, Vaughn Armstrong originally auditioned for the role of Will Riker.

Decent episode as most Klingon episodes are.

 

I do understand Roddenberry's wish to have the Klingons as allies, but honestly, I think they are best served as enemies, or at least antagonists.

 

It would have added more to Worf's character if the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire shattered during TNG, creating a conflict arc and placing him in a very difficult position.

 

I liked the fact that the Klingons were trying to convince Worf to join them, though I must also point out that this episode showed how much more interesting Worf was than Tasha Yar and how HIS character needed to be developed and how she needed to be killed off.

 

I give this episode a rating of 3
