My Review of the new Nine Inch Nails Album

Recommended Posts

This record is definitely the return of the Nine Inch Nails. “With Teeth” is “the Fragile” without the instrumental orchestra behind it. Trent goes back to his techno/industrial roots with this record. Very danceable music, this record is definitely melodic. In other words, sometimes very beautiful music, and other times dance crazy music.

This record probably mostly resembles “Pretty Hate Machine”, and what I mean by that is this record isn’t full of Metal music like “the Downward Spiral” or “Broken”, so if you want a record like that, it’s not this. Like I said, he goes back to his original techno/industrial vision.

This album has memorable songs, and will no doubt at least get in the top 10 on the Billboard charts (NIN’s last record “the Fragile” made it to #1 when it was released in 1999) it’s hard to say which songs are the best, all of the songs are great. But my favorite songs on the album would be:

The Hand That Feeds (a very NIN song with fast techno music)

Everyday is Exactly the Same (a very beautiful piano song with a fantastic chorus)

All the Love in the World (probably the best soft song on this record)

Only (awesome song, sounds like a 1970’s-80’s New Wave/Funk/Techno/Disco song, probably my favorite song on this album)

Getting Smaller (a good rock song)

Don’t worry, some of the music may be up beat, but Trent still has his famous dark lyrics. Overall, I think that most NIN fans will love this record, I do and I’m all for what ever changes Trent wants to make with his music. He goes back with this record.

I recommend getting the dual disc version of this record. The dual disc comes with the video for “The Hand That Feeds” along with a few other extras. The video is awesome, it’s NIN in the studio singing the song as the video blurs every now and then. It’s a good video to watch, you get good look at Jeordie White (formally Twiggy of the band Marilyn Manson) who is now a member of Nine Inch Nails.

So if you like his work with “The Pretty Hate Machine” then you will like this record, this is raw, original NIN that would have been if he didn’t go Metal (P.S. I like the metal records he did too, so don’t get me wrong). If you expected him to go back to “Downward Spiral” music, you may be a little disappointed, but I doubt it if you’re a NIN fan.
