I'm watching these movie over as well, it's been so long so I'm watching them all, including the Predator movies. I watched Alien last night, and here was my thoughts:

Alien

To me, this movie took a little while to get going, but when it did, it really moved. You could really sense the tension in the air ever since the first casualty at the celebration dinner. With gore, this movie really does well at mixing sci-fi with horror. You can’t help but feel a little frightened as well when they tell each other to “run, he’s coming right at you!” I’ve seen this movie many times but I still find myself even now saying “run darn you, run!” The face huggers are very frightening. You know that this is a good movie when there is just one alien the entire movie and it feels as if there are many.

I can't say where it is, but for some reason, this movie lacks in a few areas. It just doesn't feel like it's all that it could have been. Like I said, good, but not perfect. Even with that said, it's still one of my favorite movie series.

I don't have a favorite right now, but when I finish watching them over again, I probably will. anyway, what's your favorite? I'll say what I think after I watch them.

Aliens

Oh so much better!

Whatever it was missing in the original movie, it is found with this installment. James Cameron brings his movie magic to this series and makes it explode into something that is unspeakably excellent. It has action and a great story, the two things that I always go for. It is in this movie that the aliens are given a name, xenomorphs. All of the actors are really good and improved over those who were in the previous. I never can place it with this series, but this added what was missing for sure.

When I said “Oh So Much Better”, I wasn’t responding to what you said TrekkieCara, that was just the title to my review. So I wasn’t disagreeing with you if that’s the way you took what I said. I also used this short review for YAHOO!

I like the way Ridley Scott thinks, he has a dark mind like I do. His ending to Alien would have been a lot scarier if he was able to do it the way he wanted to. He wanted a much darker ending. He planned on having the alien bite off Ripley's head in the escape shuttle, sit in her chair, and then start speaking with her voice in a message to Earth. Apparently, 20th Century Fox wasn't too pleased with such a dark ending

That would have been pretty freaky and would have done like I would have. Every time I write a horror story, I always like it to end on a sour note. I don't like horror to end happy. Mainly because it would be doubtful if things in a horror movie happened in real life that it would end happy.

Alien 3

An interesting entry for sure. This movie has all of the makings for a good movie, highlighted by the new CGI alien. I really like the movie but after the high that is Aliens, it just doesn’t rise to the same level.

The end is emotional but felt a little forced. It was interesting to see Bishop, the real person who invented the Bishop cyborgs. He being on here means that this movie must not have taken place that long before Alien vs. Predator, since we see the return of the real Bishop in that movie.

Overall good, wonderful story, but it just doesn’t come off as good as what preceded it.
