Theunicornhunter 2 Posted October 31, 2004 The real answer is there is no universal agreement on where Halloween come from. The name itself came from the Catholic Holiday (Nov 1st, is all Hallow's Day- all Saints Day) so Oct 31st is All Hallow's Eve. Oct 31st was also the date of the Celtic end of harvest festival celebrated by Pagan. Here's a brief user friendly description of the origins My Webpage There are several more sites for history - each a little different but it seems that the form of Halloween we have now is pretty much an American tradition despite its varied roots.
