Doohan -- who played the Chief Engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the '60s television series and subsequent "Star Trek" movies -- grinned and waved to fans as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. The 84-year-old performer was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He also suffers from Parkinson's disease, diabetes and lung fibrosis. Video James 'Scotty' Doohan Gets Star George Takei -- who portrayed Sulu on "Star Trek" -- spoke directly to Doohan, who was in his wheelchair next to the podium. "This is a galactic day in this town full of stars," Takei said to Doohan. "And we've gathered from throughout this planet to say, 'Congratulations to you, Jimmy."' Doohan -- who did not speak -- waved and posed for photos before leaving with his family. The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony wrapped up a long weekend of events celebrating the actor, which included a "Star Trek" convention in his honor.
