I guess I really don't like for main characters to become romantically involved with each other. I find Romantic Comedies boring and well as soap opera dramas like ER.

I like friendships with characters and I guess I sort of warmed up to Scully and Mulder as a couple but I liked Doggett and Reyas better.

I'm not a Jack and Sam fan; and never watched Farscape enough to think much about Crichton and Aeryn.

One of the things I like about Law and Order is that it is plot based rather than relationship based. CSI annoys me with trying to introduce little relationship teasers... Grissom and Lady Heather now that was interesting, Grissom and Sara...yawn.

Sometimes characters hooking up totally destroys the charm of the show...think Moonlighting.

If the show is a relationship show - that's different that's why you're watching it - to see relationships.

So, have there been any shows where you thought they did a good job of hooking up main characters or have their been particularly bad examples.

I preffer romances that involve sub-characters, but the main characters are involved somehow.

Probably depends on which characters are involved...

By-the-way, I like the Aeryn Sun and John Crichton relationship on Farscape....

But I think I prefer nice friendships between main characters, I'm fine with romantic relationships, just as long as it is done right... And I like both characters...

Earlier today, I watched a Season 4 episode of Sliders called: "Roads Taken"...

It involved a bubble universe where in which Maggie and Quinn become romantically involved, and then they have a son who becomes a transdimensional journeyer... Bit complicated trying to explain it in this one little post...

It was a nice episode, and probably good for character development...

My choice is: Not usually, but there have been a couple.

Hmm romances. Well, I guess when your on a ship, your options are limited. Is it Starfleet regulation for an officer to date a crewman? Or do they have to date other officers? I can't remember. Hey who needs romance when you have a holosuite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!7 of 9 here I come just call me Barkley. hehe

No. Current T.v. brings to much sex instead of love. Love is not lust.

For non-Trek shows, not usually, because it seems like whenever the lead characters fall in love (or just fall in bed :dude: ), it changes the focus of the show from "plot" to "relationship". The only one I really like is the Aeryn/Chrichton relationship on Farscape. (Not counting the Star Trek relationships - I like all of them! )

I voted no. The unlying romance between Riker and Troi was acceptable as it added tension in the early seasons while not being the major focus in stories, for example only getting the odd line here or there.

In the subsequent spin offs I have found the romances to be at the expense of exciting sci-fi stories and is often heavy-handed with cheesy dialogue. I much prefer the focus to be on interesting stories like in TOS rather than plots that should remain in soaps.
