What kind of movies do you like?

Personally, I sometimes walk through the drama/classics section and pick up older movies I've heard of but haven't seen. It's just like reading a classic work of literature. It broadens your cultural knowledge base. Sometimes I look over lists of past Oscar winners etc., sometimes I concentrate on a specific actor.

I could name a lot of movies I enjoyed but I'm not sure you would like all of them.

Some classics:

Casablance, my all time favorite

The Caine Mutiny

The Manchurian candidate

Mr. Roberts

Harvey

Destry Rides Again

There's a really old movie called "The Cat People" which is kind of a thriller.

The Thing (read the novellete "Who Goes There?")

The Forbidden Planet

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Original Planet of the Apes

Recent Movies:

Master and Commander

Second Hand Lions

In Between Classic and recent:

Henry V (1989)

Bruce Almighty

The Education of Little Tree

The War of the Buttons

If you can't find a good movie - how you read Asimov's Foundation Trilogy and subsequent novels? They're making a movied based on the books. I loved the books.
