Surax 0 Posted April 17, 2004 I think O'Brian summed it up best. "I hate temporal mechanics." So little is ever described on any Trek. It is hard and confusing to follow. It is even harder to agree on something. I have never liked episodes involving time travel. If First Contact could have been done without the time travel, it would have been my favourite Trek movie but it is second to The Undiscovered Country. Why can't they leave time travel to the Q? vold 0 Posted April 17, 2004 Time traveling is quite simple to understand. It work in various ways all at once. - New timelines created & spread out - timelines supporting other timelines - time loops where reaction happens first before the action - etc. They are all happening at the same time. Once a time travel situation occurs. Timeloops: - First Contact in this Timeline we're watching would not occur without the Borg's intervention. "ST:FC" - Earth's computer age comes from the 29th century technology salvaged by Henry Starling. "Future's End" - DS9 crew helping TOS crew about something in "Tribbles" - Voyager met their future echo in the presense of a Singularity. "Paralax" - A planet got destroyed by Voyager's intervention even though Voyager just arrived to that planet. "Time & again" Timeline supporting timelines: - Alternate future Harry Kim saves another timeline's Voyager crew by stopping their slipstream flight. "Timeless" - Alternate Admiral Janeway helps another timeline Voyager crew to get home faster. "Endgame" - Alternate Tasha Yar gives birth to Sela to another Timeline. "Yesterday's Enterprise" New timelines created & spread out: - Every choices made is split to infinite possibilities of universes/timelines.

I can really see your point. The idea is fascinating, but it seems like producers are always falling back on the time travel thread for an easy story. DrWho42 13 Posted May 3, 2004 (edited) I hate the TCW theme it get tiring... Personally, I like it, but the TCW can rage/will rage/has raged on for several timelines, and there is alot of time in the flow of eternity.... And there is alot of things that can happen/will happen/have happened when time-travel is involved..... I should know, being the Doctor and all :) (jk, Doctor hasn't been to every corner of the infinite-dimensional realm... But they're renewing the series for 2005, so that would be grand :) The Adventures of STF.net Edited May 3, 2004 by drwho42
