Producers in the theatre

im doing a research project for drama class, and i was wondering if any of you know what a producer of a theatre production does exactly, how much they make etc. any help is welcomed, thanx!

the producer is the person who sponsors the script and allows theplay or movie to be done. (provides the money) he gets paid by how much money comes back from the ticket sales.

Yes the producer is the one that foots all the cash for the production. If the show is a hit the producer will make a profit, if its not then he or she loses.
