Trekland: Paramount Announces the Final Frontier of Fun!

Paramount Parks, a leading developer and operator of regional theme parks and location-based entertainment attractions, has announced plans for an all-new, completely original theme park based on one of entertainment's biggest franchises — Star Trek. The new park, to be called "Trekland," is slated to open by the year 2010 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, future home to Starfleet and the spot where Kirk landed a cloaked bird-of-prey.

In this bold move, Paramount Parks offers a new destination that promises to be "The Final Frontier of Fun" as visitors from around the world come to seek out new rides and new adventures.

The proposed attractions include: the Antimatter Horn; It's a Thrall World; Orion Pirates of the Caribbean; Great Nanoseconds with Mr. Data; Captain Picard's Wild Ride; Vash Mountain; Country Targ Jamboree; Haunted Mess Hall; Janus VI Cruise; Enchanted Horga'hn Room, Main Street U.F.P.; Starfleet Tours; Morn-o-rail; Odo-pia; Harry Mudd Hatter; the U.S.S. Columbia starship; Dr. Noonien Soong's Treehouse; and the Cyrano Jones and the Tribbles of Doom Adventure.

Different sections of the park will be themed by easily identifiable areas such as "Final Frontierland," "Risaland," "Mirror Universeland," "Vorta's Weyountown" and "Return to Tomorrowland."

(Disclaimer: The name Trekland, and the proposed rides and attractions bear no resemblance to things living or otherwise, on this planet or the next. Any resemblance is purely coincidental if, in fact, there is any resemblance. But there isn't, so if any of the attractions resemble names of other attractions at any theme parks in the world today it is purely an alternate fiction. Herewith, and in perpetuity.)

More news as it breaks…

It's an April's Fool joke and you fell for it! :P Take a careful look at the photo. It's a doctored sign for the Hilton in Las Vegas.

I do like the slang "Cyano Jones and the Tribbles of Doom." Pretty original, no?
