DrWho42 13 Posted March 10, 2004 CryoNet Cryonic suspension is an experimental procedure whereby patients who no longer can be kept alive with today's medical abilities are preserved at low temperature for treatment in the future. (from www.scifi.com) Their program is simple: freeze--wait--reanimate. Find out about their membership plan, check their book list, and more. (Visits: 64) American Cryonics Society Cryonics is a recently coined word referring to the practice of preserving the whole body, head, or brain, of persons recently declared legally dead, in the hope of revival at some time in the future. The word is derived from cryogenics, the physical science of very low temperatures. Long-term cryonic storage uses immersion in liquid nitrogen. (from www.scifi.com) Freeze your head! Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 Posted March 10, 2004 I don't fear death, so when I die, I die. I see no need to try and play God with my own life.
Xeroc 0 Posted March 11, 2004 Well, I don't think it will work as the frozen state of the person should crystallize and denature their protiens effectively destroying their inner workings at the cellular level. However there was a good TNG episode about this: "The Neutral Zone" Check out the description on ST.com
Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 Posted March 12, 2004 (edited) I've heard that there's a way to freeze someone without the crystalising denaturing their protiens. It was on an episode of Ripley's: Believe it or Not, where this man froze his grandpa in a shead or something with loads of ice and constantly removed the ice crystals to safely preserve the body. It was quite fascinating. Edited March 12, 2004 by Captain Jean-Luc Picard
