  1. In the morning after I run, I usually fill the bathtub with cold water, dump in

two or three trays of ice cubes, and sit in that for 5 or 10 minutes. Then I let

the water out, dry off and take a hot shower. Good for reduction of lactate buildup in the muscles.

  2. Of all the counties I've lived in and visited in my life, America, has everything, and I love her. Would never leave, even if I had the choice to do so, which I do, I wouldn't. She is my Motherland now. VIVE LA AMERICA!!! :theforce:

What other countries have you lived in Jeanway? I've been to a few myself, and still like America the best.

  3. I am an extremely deep sleeper, and in college, my roommates moved my bed down the hall and into the elevator.  I slept through the whole thing and woke up on the wrong floor of course.

UH, excuse me nik, but shouldn't this go in the 'EVER GET STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR? THREAD????? :( :theforce:

Yeah, now that you mention it. I would have loved to see the looks on peoples' faces when they attempted to use the elevator, and someone was sleeping in there. Of course, I didn't. I was asleep.

  4. I work at a major nuclear physics laboratory, and somehow, somebody managed to

turn one of our gas-handling computers into a movie download server. We found

out about it when guys in dark suits and sunglasses from the FBI came into the

building and told us to turn off the computer or go to jail. We essentially rebuilt the computer. We're not sure how it was caused, but possibly it was an inside job.

  5. I basically spent the 90's in college, and have two words of advice.

    - Time management is important. Use time wisely.

    - Don't wait until the last minute to do homework. Do it on the day it is assigned. If the material hasn't been covered, you'll understand the lecture more by the time it is

covered. If it has been covered, you will limit the time during which you can

easily forget it by applying it immediately.

  6. I hunted in high school. I haven't hunted in a while, but use a bow, don't bait, don't shine, and eat everything I get. One has a deeper respect and thankfulness for one's

meal when one has to work hard to get it, rather than pay a factory farmer to

kill it for you, and when one only kills enough to eat.

  7. Actually the first person to ever play James Bond was an American actor named Barry Nelson. He starred in a TV version of Casino Royale in 1954. The first actor to play a movie version of Bond was David Niven in the comedic version of Casino Royale. Then you have the Bonds mentioned in the above post.

    Ktrek

    Thanks KTrek. Impressive knowledge!

  8. Interesting concept. Here's a theory. Humans, being.... well.... human, are encumbered with a seemingly infinite number of problems. One of our shortcomings is that we can only deal with a limited amount of information at a time. What I would

say is that in truth one's "personal crisis grid" is much larger than we are capable of perceiving. For that reason, we only see the top 5, 10, 50 or so items that happen to be plaguing us at any given time. Secondly, time and entropy (loosely used here) have a way of producing problems. Without vigilance, problems will come.

At the moment, this sounds esoteric, but I've never really looked at life as a series of

crises, but rather a parade of challenges. If a challlenge does not exist, then one must find one. Otherwise, what purpose is in life?

  9. I believe the Russians have launched and tested small solar sails with controllable vanes. Their success was commensurate with the current level of technology. (i.e.,

It didn't function on any practical level, but was a good first step.)

  10. This sounds like a trick question, but here's all I can think of:

Sean Connery, First appeared in Dr. No (I Forget the Date of release)

George Lazenby, Only appearance in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)

Sean Connery, Back again in Diamonds are Forever (1971, I think)

Roger Moore, Fist appeared in Live and Let Die (1973)

Timothy Dalton, First appeared in The Living Daylights (1987)

Pierce Brosnan, First appeared in Goldeneye (1995)

  11. Wow, Jeanway! Three months of insomnia, coupled with weight loss, and apparent bursts of energy.

I'm not a doctor (well... not a medical doctor anyway), but this is something I'd take a

bit seriously. If you've ruled out any lifestyle changes (moving, diet, drugs, medications, quiting smoking, job stress, etc.) you might want to visit the doctor. I would only speculate as to the problem, but it could be a medical condition, Grave's

    disease, diabetes, malnutrition, .... I don't know.

I go through spurts of about a month at a time unable to sleep, but I can invariably attribute it to work. For you.... I don't know. You might want to see a doctor.

    Good luck!

  12. Well, it depends on the show.  On TOS, I've the impression that it was a running gag.  I don't remember many people dieing on TNG.  On VOY, they lost 1/3 of the crew when transported to the Delta Quadrant, but they were replaced by Chakotay's Maquis crew.  On ENT, they only lost a few people before "Azati Prime".  DS9 is the only Trek show that makes Humans and Starfleet ships pop up like rabbits. :o

It had to be some sort of joke. Pretty much every TOS episode had a script similar to this:

Kirk: "Sulu, you and Chekov investigate that building on the far ridge. Spock and I

will examine the crash site. Bones, you and Scotty scan that alien-looking vessel over there for lifeforms and weapons. .....

...... Oh, Ensign Jones...... go look behind that rock!"

(Later, Ensign Jones screams, and his charred remains are found.)

  13. I'd rather move all that big stuff honestly. It's all the tiny stuff that gets thrown around and takes a million trips to load and unload. That drives me nuts. Then again, being a rather petite woman the men never let me move the big stuff anyway so I don't know what it's like to move a piano or anything. I just hate moving period.

I agree with RC. All those annoying boxes of little things that never seem to end.
