I love this song. It is so accurate, cause I could not have said it any better myself. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Well, they can allways change it to Star Trek: Enterprise if they wanted to. There was a show called Roswell High. Half way through the first season, it was shortened to Roswell. If you can shorten a series title, then surely you can expand it.From what I read, there were 3 reasons they dropped Star Trek from the title.
1. They wanted more people to watch as a lot of people change the channel once Star Trek shows up in the credits.
2. It's a prequal, so they felt it shouldn't have Star Trek in the title since it's set before the original series.
3. They were trying to come up with another way to say "Star Trek" without actually saying it, this they named the series Enterprise.
Personally, I think #1 sounds dumb, #2 makes sense but isn't neccessary. #3 makes perfect sense. They wanted a compact title that implied "Star Trek" without saying it. That I can buy.
Saying it's a Prequel so it shouldn't have Star Trek doesn't make much sense, First Contact took place well before Enterprise and the term was used there.
They should just rename it and give the show back it's identity.
Agreed they should.

Well...anyone else notice? It really sounds like him I'll have to listen a little more closely next time I watch the movie.

There was nothing strange about the Enterprise-D. It was a massive starship, but Starfleet standards, and was also a ship of explorration and diplomacy. The ship had a population of arround 1,000 people. About 900 were crew, while the other 100 were famliles, passengers, and so forth. Other starships have been known to have families. Ensign Wildman was pregnant with Naomi on Voyager for almost 2 years, Lt. Comm. Sisko had his wife, Jennifer, and his son, Jake, on the Saratoga. It all just depends on the ship and/or class. My guess is that both the Galaxy and Nebua-class ships carried lots of families while most other ships just had a few, probably about 5 or so per a ship.I totaly agree with you, no matter how big or small the ship it always had at least one or two families on them.

I don't mind cast changes as life is full of change, it's only the deaths that get to me. So, the cast changes that botherred me were the deaths of Yar and Data.Same here the only death that really did not affect me was that of Tasha Yar. Don't get me wrong I liked her but it just wasn't as powerful as Data's or Kirk's.

THe Ready Room is a military term as well. There is no escaping the fact that Starfleet is military.Nope you sure can't deny it.

Perhaps, we could talk about a specific series one night a week...Like on Mondays at 8 we discus TOS, Tuesdays at 8 it's TNG, Wendsdays at 8 we have the ENT chat, Thursdays we discuss DS9 at 8 and Friday at 8 we talk about VOY at 8.Just an idea
I'm all for it!!

And even if there were not so many refrences to the military in ST I would still look at it in that fashion.

Too much as in she's painted blue with makeup stuck to her body. She might as well be naked, becuase that's how it looks. That's how she's sopposed to look like she is nude. Say you could change your form at will would you want to wear cloths? No you'd end up leaving them everywhere and that is not a good thing. But I can understand where you are coming from.

True, but it seems the Military's perpose is to defend the nation where as Starfleet's purpose is to explore the unkown, help alien cultures develop, defend the Federation against alien threats, colonize planets, and so forth. So, you guys trying to tell me that a military does all that? It sure doesn't seem like it.If it wasn't for the military we would have never put a man on the moon or had the technology to find the Titanic. You may not see all of the scientific things that the military does is because most of it is classified or it's just not newsworthy. In the Navy there are a few groups of people that are dedicated to underwater exploration. For example when you watch a show on the History channel that is about a underwater wreck who do you think is doing the diving for them? It's a group of Navy divers that's what they are trained to do.

IMHO, Starfleet is military and the comment in the Expanse may have been meant as a reference to "Earth Military Forces" as in the military that is assigned to protecting the planet and to keeping peace on Earth. Starfleet is a military force but their military function has not been utilized much. As for all military personel carrying guns that is not accurate. If I am not mistaken, and VBG or JTKirk1 can correct me if I am wrong as they were both military, most millitary personel are only armed in times of combat. It is my understanding that aboard naval vessels during times of peace it is not permitted for personel to carry side arms unless ordered to do so by thier CO.In general that would is correct there are time other than war time that we were premitted to carry side arms. In all situations it involves with security and law enforcment other than that in the Navy you really don't carry a gun. In other words you got it right.

One thing I loved about the movie was the bright colors, and the way everything seemed so real. I've thought about getting X-Men 2, but that blue woman is too much! What do you mean she's too much?

I was never a huge fan of the catsuits, but it could have been alot worse. I am a little anxious about the change because even with a two piece ensemble it could end up being worse then the catsuit.I have to agree it could be so much worse than the catsuit.

I loved the movie! They did an excelent job on it. I can't wait for an sequel. I just hope the sequal is just as good, if not betterSame here if the sequal is better than the original movie than you know they did the right thing making a movie about Spiderman in the first place.
-
How about we chat about what we would like to see on a future Star Trek movie or show.
-
I loved the movie it was really good, I really liked the sfx and how they made it really look like Spiderman was swinging through NYC. I already have the DVD and the sound track both are really good.
-
I would watch the show no matter what, seeing as though I love scifi.

It I had know idea what Star Trek was and I saw a show by the name of Enterprise I would automatically think that it was a show about the NAVY. So I honestly think they should expand the title to Star Trek:Enterprise. Even though there are alot of people that change the cannel when they see the name Star Trek in the credits the reason they do that is because they want to see something new and diffrent or because they really dislike anything that says Star Trek. I think that if they do pust ST into the title that the show will pick up more viewers. But like I said that is my opinion.

I don't think vaporizing Kirk would have been a good idea and I'm glad that they went the route they did, but they could have done his death a little better. Plus at some point in time they will want to somehow resurect Kirk like in William Shatner's book. The Kirk charecter is just way to popular to keep him dead.
-
I understand what your saying but seeing as ENT wasn't made before ST they should have included the ST name to it.
-
OK, VBG, that makes sense! While Enterprise may be the 5th series, I think the main reason for dropping the Star Trek title is becuase it is a prequal.
As for the ratings problem? From the fans I've spoken to, a lot either don't get UPN or won't watch becuase they feel it messes the timeline up too much.
It might be a prequal but it is still a ST spinoff, and with it messing up the time line it might but that doesn't mean they should drop the ST name. But with UPN most areas have it I know that because before I moved to OH I lived in a little town in NC and was able to watch it. But I still think they should have never droped the ST name from the show.
-
I've read William Shatners books and I agree with you on that point and I would loved it if they had used it to make a movie but you know hot that goes.
-
I love to eat a pizza that has just about everything on it.
-
Ah, well, I was just looking at it as a means to compact the title, that's all.I understand that but when you really think about it that's not the best thing to do. But hey if they do it at least we will all know that it is a ST movie.

Right now I think most people would want to do that and not just because of the Montreal Screw Job.
