  2. I found this on the web describing the History of The World Championship

    WCW World Heavyweight Championship

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The World Championship Wrestling [WCW] World Heavyweight Championship (sometimes simply WCW Championship or WCW Title) was the primary championship in the World Championship Wrestling professional wrestling organization. It was created in January 1991, and the physical belt continues to be used as the World Wrestling Entertainment World Heavyweight Championship. It has been held by many successful professional wrestlers, including Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and Sting.

    History

    Origin

In December 1988 Ted Turner bought Jim Crockett Promotions and renamed it World Championship Wrestling. While the promotion remained a member of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Turner introduced his own championship two years later, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The new championship continued to use the NWA World Heavyweight Championship title belt. When Ric Flair won the title from Sting (Steve Borden) he was declared the first WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Because of this WCW regularly claimed the NWA Championship lineage for its own championship.

After a disagreement with WCW Executive Vice-President Jim Herd, Flair left WCW for Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment). When Herd refused to return his $25,000 deposit (that was left with the NWA), Flair kept the NWA "Big Gold Belt" (which was his belt). WCW was forced to create its own belt, which it awarded to Lex Luger (Larry Pfohl) after he defeated Barry Windham.

In late 1991, WCW bought the "Big Gold Belt" from Flair for $35,000 (the cost of the NWA deposit, plus interest). Still retaining membership in the NWA, WCW allowed the NWA to defend its title on WCW television. By September 1993, WCW pulled out of the NWA and kept the "Big Gold Belt", because WCW had purchased it from Flair. The belt was named the WCW International Championship and Rick Rude became champion by defeating Flair.

    Unification

At Starrcade 93, Flair won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, by defeating Vader (Leon White). WCW decided to unify the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (represented by the new belt) and International Championship (represented by the "Big Gold Belt"), by having Flair wrestle Sting in June 1994. Flair won and the International Title belt replaced the old World Heavyweight belt while the International Championship itself was dropped. Hulk Hogan entered WCW and won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (now represented by the "Big Gold Belt") from Flair. Holding the title off and on until 2000, Hogan helped WCW become the top wrestling company in the United States. However by 2000 it had suffered a succession of failures and was sold by Turner.

    World Wrestling Entertainment

In March 2001, Vince McMahon bought World Championship Wrestling for $5,000,000 and tried to revive the company. After the company's failure, McMahon decided to unify the WCW and WWE World Titles. The WCW Championship was then renamed the "World Championship" after the WWF storyline which eliminated WCW as an active entity.

Chris Jericho unified the titles by pinning The Rock (World Champion) and Stone Cold Steve Austin (WWF Champion) in 2001. The belts stayed unified as the WWE Undisputed Championship until won by Brock Lesnar. When Lesnar decided to wrestle only for WWE Smackdown!, WWE RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff created a new World Championship. , at that time the WWE Undisputed Champion, refused to defend the title on RAW, causing the title to become exclusive to SmackDown!. (It has since been referred to as the WWE Championship, dropping the word "Undisputed"). The following week on RAW, General Manager Eric Bischoff awarded the World Heavyweight Title, in the form of the old WCW World Heavyweight Championship belt, to RAW's designated #1 contender, Triple H.

now thats one way to look at it, and he way I do, but King you points are also Valid, there no point trying to figure out the true history of titles, cause it gets even more confusing when you include the old terrority championships.

  3. see thats where the fanbase and alot of webpages split, on the linage of the titles, to me the NWA and WCW titles are the same, the new NWA campioship Jarrett now holds is not the same linage of the NWA/WCW title, I feel that when flair "left WCW for the WWF in the early 90's he was still the WCW/NWA Champion, then WCW created the World international title while flair was gone, now once flair returned to WCW the 2 title merged into the new WCW title, now the Raw and WCW championships may not be the ame belt, but too me the lineage continues (now King I'm not disagreeing with you either I mean it can be interpreated either way its like comparing cannon in Star Trek) but the WWF/E champiosnhips also had its down moments with Egos, HBK losing his smile comes to mind, if you jump online to look up ttle history you get alot of different views, do a google searc you will see, actually the more you think about it, they are the same title, since WWE, and WCW bot broke away from NWA, and speaking of the TNA I dont think the NWA title is as Important as theX-division title, and i think speaking of titles it would of ben nice to se Rhyno Defend his ECW Championship at one night Stand.

  4. you may thnk the worl title is a Joke cause David arrequte is wearing it, or it was giving to HHH when it was reinstated, but the 1st WWE(WWWF then) championship was handed to Buddy Rogers in pretty much the same fashion a ournamet was held in (South America nobody attended Right), I like the world Champioship, it looks better then the WWE Belt (Cena's Belt is seriously a Joke and the one JBL had sucks too) go back to the mid 90's belt. The World Championship does have a long history too it, if you get a chance to read it, the only downfal to it is it was Given to HHH, but he would of won it in the same fashion, The WWE Championship being on Smackdown for the last few years, has really suffered, but that's Vince's Fault he should of made that the Raw belt IMO, but to late

  5. No, Actually Showtime ruined stargate when they 1sr made a series, the writers who made the original movie, wanted to make a trilogy out of it, but whoever had the rights to stargate, sold the name and so on to Showtime, I enjoyed the original movie, but i diliked the series they have because of that fact

  6. Many have pointed out that on the RAW Superstars page on WWE.com how World Champion Batista is listed above WWE Champion John Cena. This has caused some to joke that if Triple H were to somehow capture the WWE Title if he would still be listed underneath Batista since over time the World Heavyweight Title has become the "#1" world title in WWE.

  7. I feel bad for you guys who didn get much ECW, I got to see alot of it, and Pittsburgh actually had a ECW house of Hardcore II located in the area, I got to go to an ECW PPV, and Shane Douglas was way over in the burgh, could not deny his fans here, (i'm not one of them he (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't)ed about HBK and acted like him with the ECW belt) but you guys missed out on alot not being able to view it longer

  8. I just found this out, thought it was funny cause they wanted to make the PPV ECW authenic but At the ECW One Night Stand PPV, there was in fact a Titantron set up above the entrance way, off-camera. and I hated how when the went outside to show NYC they used the WWE Crooked camera Angle, that reminded me that WWE was still behind it, but it was an awsome freaken show and i loved it no matter what

  9. an amazing PPV better then mania. I think it was awsome to see this style of wrestling in a long time, Joey Styles, Oh My GOd, I missed him, the Mike awsome match was amazing the main event was outstanding, Sabu looked great, I wish Tazz had more of an impact, Austin and Sandman together, thats an AA meeting in the making, they should form a tagteam the Wifebeaters, What!, anyway I hope the WWE brings back ECW, kill off Sunday Night heat or Velocity, ECW would bring in ratings and money, I hope Mcmahon saw the $$ signs and lets Heyman bring it back, Please oh please god let this happen, I missed ECW I wish Terry funk was there......man I wish I was there live, I went to 5 live ECW shows, and they all rank high on my lost up there wih KOR 98, Bring it back!

  10. * Revealing mistakes: When the cloaked ship lands on the grass, a trash can is crushed. As the earth (grass) moves down under the pressure of the heavy ship, the grass blades remain pointing up.

    * Continuity: The candle and beer in the restaurant.

    * Boom mike visible: After the President gives his warning, Kirk gets up to talk to Spock.

    * Continuity: At the Cetacean Institute after Spock's mind meld with the whale inside the pool, Gillian and Kirk find him dressing up again but he looks completely dry. Although we may assume that 23rd century clothes will dry up in a split second, Spock should still be wet.

    * Errors in geography: The shot of the whales swimming away at the end of the movie was set in San Francisco, but the footage was filmed off the coast of Hawaii (The Big Island is visible in the background).

    * Continuity: The hand that Kirk uses the phaser with when rescuing Chekov.

    * Errors in geography: After leaving the Cetacean Institute, Kirk and Spock discuss the whale situation; from the view of the Golden Gate Bridge they have returned over the bridge from Sausalito to San Francisco. The scene changes and when we return to Kirk and Spock, they are back in Sausalito, being offered a ride by Gillian "back to" San Francisco.

    * Crew or equipment visible: Sound stage wall visible through the hatch that Kirk blows after the Klingon ship crashes into San Francisco Bay.

    * Continuity: The Klingon ship is shown hovering above the whaler with the whaler deep in its shadow. When they cut back the bridge of the whaler, they're back in the sunshine. They cut back to show the Klingon ship hovering over the whaler, and it is once again in shadow.

    * Errors in geography: Kirk and Spock ride a San Francisco "Muni" bus to the "Cetacean Institute" in Sausalito. However, Muni does not run any buses over the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County, where Sausalito is located.

    * Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Kirk mentions twice that he and his people do not use money in the 23rd century (once to Gillian and once before he pawns his glasses for cash), but in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), Bones McCoy tells an alien in a bar that he has plenty of money to pay for a ride to the Genesis Planet. The difference is that the trip in the earlier movie was planned, so McCoy would have been able to prepare money; further, evidence is that Federation humans do not generally use money between themselves, but have experience using it with other cultures (notably the Ferengi).

    * Revealing mistakes: During landing of the ship, garbage cans are "blown over" into the prevailing wind, and can be seen being kicked over by garbage man.

    * Continuity: At the end when the camera pans the crew just before their pardon, Scotty wears the rank pin of a Commander. This is despite his being promoted to Captain in _Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)_, being listed in this film's credits as "Captain Montgomery Scott," and wearing Captain's pins in the next film, _Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)_.

    * Continuity: When Dr. Taylor drops off Spock at the park, the ignition switch of the Chevy pickup is shown in the "off" position, yet engine idling sound continues and there is no sound of the engine starting up again.

    * Crew or equipment visible: Just before Spock checks the bus map at a stop, you can see several crew members are visible through a large glass window of a restaurant - one of them even clearly wears a Star Trek IV security badge, and all are wearing walkie-talkies.

    * Crew or equipment visible: When Sulu accidentally turns on the windshield wipers of the helicopter, the wipers were broken so a grip had to move the wipers manually. Look closely and you can see his finger holding on to the blade as it moves back and forth.

    * Continuity: The pizza box Kirk holds after Gillian drops him off at the park is smaller than the pizza they had ordered "to go" in the previous scene. Then, when Kirk beams aboard the ship, the pizza box is gone.

    * Continuity: The painted-on "HMS Bounty" on the Bird-of-Prey is visible only when Kirk asks his crew if they will stand trial with him.

    * Crew or equipment visible: When the Klingon ship is descending towards the whaling ship, there is a shot of the whales immediately following a quick shot of the harpoon. At the extreme right-hand side of the underwater whale shot you can make out a diver from waist up.

    * Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Scotty is typing on the computer in the plexiglas factory and his hands are shown the sound effects of typing to not match up with his hands, which are moving much slower. In addition, the there is no way a single keystroke as demonstrated by Scotty could create the level of graphics shown on the 1986-vintage Macintosh computer used in the scene.

    * Continuity: After Kirk rescues Scotty and Gillian, he tells Scotty to close the escape hatch on the bridge; he never does and it is left open.

    * Plot holes: The whales and water are in the storage tank in the ship, but there is no indication that there is any void space for air in the tank or how the whales would be able to surface and breath in the uncertain G-forces of time travel.

    * Audio/visual unsynchronized: Immediately after the whales' transponders are located in the Bering Sea, Gillian can be seen to mouth "How did you do that?" without sound, then she is immediately seen and heard giving the same line from another camera angle.

    * Factual errors: In the end credits, the role of Marine Sergeant is misspelled as "Sargent."
