1. Takara,

I hosted your clip as well. You can now find your clip also on http://www.finalfrontiermedia.nl .. and then the movie clip section. At the top I have a link to your clip. I'm hosting it twice and I also linked to your link posted in this topic. Furthermore I have give the proper credits and when people click on your name they go to your website, datalorefiction.net. I hope this is okay with you. Please let me know.

    greetings,

    Sebastiaan

  2. In honour of Brent Spiner's birthday on February 2, I am bumping this thread. I have also updated the tribute so it is a little different from the one originally posted but it uses the same link that is in the first post of this thread. I've shortened a number of clips, removed the end interview footage and added additional episode clips. The new clips are from Redemption Part II, Conundrum, Power Play, ST: Generations and ST: FC. There may be an episode or two I'm forgetting as well. I hope you enjoy. Again I warn you it's a big file (a little over 13,000 KB) so it may take a minute or two to download depending on your internet connection.

33 seconds exactly to download your file . I'm going to watch your video and if you like I host it on my website with the proper credits. Is there a website to link to for you or a e-mail address? let me know.

    Greetings,

    Sebastiaan

  3. I sure will to use your other videoclip. But I don't have that clip. Pleas mail it to me(n3mesis@lycos.nl)..

Futher.. For Star Trek Video Clips..My opinion is to find a subject, find the right music and then try to combine it with the video. It's not really the same as a MTV music clip nor a movie with a score.

But that's my opinion. I like to make a video clip, for what I like but also to give others fans or non-fans a feeling for what star trek can personally mean for something. And then I mean, in a way of thinking about life. Not about wearing costums and build a startrek room. but.. that's my point of view.

  4. Ok..I downloaded it...and watched it 3 times..

    (1) The Video Resolution(or quality) is ....most excellent!....theater quality..where can i get some .rar footage for my projects..is the quality better in that format?

Rar is the same as Winzip, but then advanced, It's compressed. The real file is a WMV file. The clip is made from scenes of TWOK. This was a AVI file of 683MB.

    (2) To quote you: the music doesn't go with the video/ actually the video doesn't work well with that music..to be more specific the tempo of the video clips is faster than the tempo of the music.  Enya?? It really wasn't sad or somber enough for the death of Spock, and it wasn't heroic either...since Spock sacrificed his life for the many. But all that is just a matter of artistic taste..

I think so. The music is from Enya indeed, The long ships. I find the music just right for the death of spock. Tempo of some parts of the video are indeed higher then the music.

    (3) as for the editing....I didn't really see much editing(which either means you did it very well or not at all) I couldn't see many transitions..that weren't part of the original scenes..but it's been a long time since I set down and screened WrOK, maybe I will tonight.  Just seemed like a real long clip from the movie...not really a music video at all..more a Musical Interlude sequence from a movie.

    306053

I Used the same transitions as in most movies. fade out and fade in. Very simple and very effective. Some scenes are straight from the movie. Most scenes are changed. The most difficult was the end of the clip. The death of spock in TWOK was very time consuming I had to shorten that without losing the feeling.

  5. headborg - I thought I'd already posted on this topic, but I don't know what happened to it.  :P  I'm no expert or anything, but I've watched your video several times and I enjoy it very much.  Thank you for posting it.

    305870

Thank you, Indy...and yes you already posted on this topic...but it was deleted over at the Enterprise Forum....it's content offended too many viewers..that's the reason for the PG-13 warning..and this version doesn't have the valantine dedication at the end..and actually a few different edits..it's 4:05 instead of 3:59.

    306013

Could you sent me the original version!? Here in the Netherlands we don't look surprised when we see something more then usual.

  6. I also like to take songs that are completely unrelated to Star Trek and try to connect them in some way. To me, that song just sparked all of those images in my mind when I listened to it back when I made it.

I don't know any related star trek songs. I think the music of Enya is good music for "Slow trek". For "fast trek" more songs are approtiate. It's difficult to find one, sometimes you do need luck.

  7. Music doesn't fit with the videoclip. When I hear the music I don't think of Star Trek. There is no chemistry in the clip. Keep Practising.

    305472

Obviously I disagree since I made it but that's ok. Basically the music itself inspired those images in my mind.

You just have to shut off your knowledge of the episodes and let the music tell you a story. Don't watch the video and expect the music to match the original story of the actual episodes. The video clips were selected to help tell the story of the music, just from a Star Trek frame of mind.

    305946

Well, the TOS and ENT episode i've never seen. The beginning is good I think with the thunder and the four men walking. What I mean with chemistry, is that you change from series. One way, very cool. other way, how it happens is not very good. The music fit's the subject, but the video not always fit the music. But.. If you want to, I'll add your video on my website with your credits. And correct me if I'm wrong, you're one of the owners of this website, I'll also place a Link to this website.

    let me know.

  8.

    (1) I always welcome constructive criticism.

    That's okay. It's difficult, but good :P

    (2) This was my first experiment with Windows Movie Maker and digital media.

No offence, but Windows Movie Maker isn't really a good program, but that's my opinion. Maybe you could use Ulead or Pinacle studio. Problem with Pinacle studio is heavy for you CPU and Memory.

    (3) I was under a deadline- it was a Valentine's Day present/project

I don't know that. You only post a video. You could be working years on it, or several hours. By the way, nice Valentine's day present. There's nothing more valuable then own work.

    (4) you use what you can find/steal/borrow...i don't have the key to the vault at Paramont..i admitt the footage of Trip/T'Pol in the cave is very poor..too poor..will replace when better becomes available.

I know the problem. I have everything on DVD but not on my pc. I have the luck I have the movies on my pc. Try to find one source for your movies and clips. The change of difference in resolutions/quality is must smaller.

    (5) Use more relations? please clarify........

    Riker - Troi, Kira - Odo, Dax-Worf, Dax-Bashir, Sisko-Yates, Garak-Ziyal, Chakotay-7of9, Paris-Torres ... that's what a mean. Not neccesary, but an option.

    (6) The music doesn't fit..... (i don't think you even speak or understand English that well.....you're Dutch right! and you said the same thing about everyone's work here...you're just out tearing down other peoples work to elevate and promote your own..your site..which by-the-way ..when i try to download your work...my firewall tells me you are trying to push more thru to my computer than just the video.

Indeed, my English isn't the best there is. I don't know some words and my grammar is horrible. But you understand me for a little. Therefore, not all work I've seen here is bad. If you read well enough you could see that. I've "rarred" all my work. My work is save! if you don't believe it people are downloading rght now. My tip: just let it through, I guarantee it's save! Use Winrar to unrar them. You can fin Winrar at the bottom of the page. If you still won't try it, I will specially for you unrar the files you want to see and make them available for you.

    (7) I interned for 3 years at KSFM-TV channel 29 between 1988-1990...and have made dozens of music video(late at nite) and worked on several AETN(pbs) documentaries that have been broadcast. I grew up watching MTV...and the music fits perfectly....

I'm a soccer player for over 15 years, that doesn't mean I'm a soccer expert. Therefore I als grew up with MTW/TMF or what for music channel. The music fits the subject!! But some parts of the videos don't fit the music. I can't explain it in English very well. It's very difficult to find the right music for star trek.

    (8) criticizing others work to plug your own...is just bad taste...

Plug your own!? what does that mean. Well, the most work available at my website is NOT my own work!! The work I'm proud of is "Farewell". Further some Dutch clip that's not interesting for you.

Just keep trying with your work! I have your clip on my Candidates list. If it's okay with you I put it on my website. I've already more then 100MB of videoclips from this site.

Let me know, I'm no evil European.

  9. Well.

one thing: .....the only proper way to criticise one is to say the video didn't fit the music

that's also a way to say it. But in the end, you say the same as I do.

My English isn't the best, so, maybe therefore I look rude. I'm just a fan of these videos and I like to see good ones. That's why I have a website special made for those clips.

Your clip Dynamite is on my candidates list. That means, with your approval I will post it on my website so you get more name etc. That clip what you want to send me, would be nice. n3mesis@lycos.nl.

Further. You don't even try to watch. I think that's a little short-sighted of you. What harm can be done by watching work of others. What motives move them to make a movie, what do others use for music. Do you think that I watch only here to promote my website; no! I'm also here to watch ideas from other people. I see here a lot of enterprise clips. The most clips I know are mostly about TOS/TNG/DS9 or the movies. But.. it's your choice no hard feelings :P, We are all fans, aren't we.

    B) (I had to use this one, such a cool smiley)

  10. Well, the best video I encounter on this website so far. Again the music doesn't fit the video. The idea is very good, the subject of the movie is very good. But the music is very important, you can't use light music with fighting and you can't use heavy music with emotional themes.

    305473

The music is the theme of the television series: Babylon 5. :P

    305616

    So!?!?

Even star trek music isn't the best to use in a star trek clip. I've two good examples. All I want. A video clip made by sabatoj and goes about the end of DS9. It's a number from Ozzy Osbourne.. not light music, so the clip is fast en lot of battles. There On my way home from Enya ,Sabatoj used in an other clip that marks the end of DS9. That clip is slower then All I want. Both you can find on my website in the movie clip section.here

  11. Well, Okay, I wasn't very nice to you people about your videoclips. So, I give you a change to critisize my work. Take a look at

    here

It's about the death of spock. Maybe something new for you people here. All the footage comes from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

  12. Well, the best video I encounter on this website so far. Again the music doesn't fit the video. The idea is very good, the subject of the movie is very good. But the music is very important, you can't use light music with fighting and you can't use heavy music with emotional themes.

Keep practising, it's not easy to get it right. I ould like to place your video on my website, but.. then I need the real version not a wmx but a wmv/mpg or avi or rm.. name it.
