07.17.03 Five Emmy Nominations for Enterprise

Matching its tally from last year, Enterprise earned five nominations in its second season for the 55th Annual Emmy Awards announced this morning, but three of those nominations are in the same category.

"Dead Stop," "The Crossing" and the season finale "The Expanse" were three of the five nominees in the category Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series, with the entire VFX teams headed by Dan Curry, Ronald B. Moore and Mitch Suskin named (see full lists below). Last year Enterprise had two nominations in that category, and the series pilot "Broken Bow" ended up winning (related story). This year the only competition is from Joss Whedon-produced shows: UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fox's Firefly.

Another repeat nomination is in Outstanding Makeup For A Series (Prosthetic), for "Canamar." Michael Westmore's team of 16 makeup artists were all named. Among the competitors in this category is HBO's Six Feet Under, which beat Enterprise last year.

Finally, Dennis McCarthy's score for "The Expanse" is vying for the Emmy in Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Dramatic Underscore). He is competing against composers for The Agency, JAG, Odyssey 5 and 24. This is McCarthy's seventh Emmy nomination on behalf of Star Trek, and if he triumphs, it would be his second time — in 1993 he won for the main title theme music for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Last year the Enterprise episode "Two Days and Two Nights" won Outstanding Hairstyling For A Series, but the show has no nominations in that category this time.

These technical categories will be part of the Creative Arts Awards presentation Saturday, September 13 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The main Emmy Awards show will take place Sunday, September 21, and will be broadcast live on Fox.

In the acting categories, as usual there were a number of Star Trek veterans recognized. From "Star Trek: First Contact," both James Cromwell ("Zefram Cochrane") and Alfre Woodard ("Lily Sloane") were nominated — Cromwell for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for a spot on Six Feet Under, and Woodard for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series for The Practice. The list wouldn't be complete without Kim Cattrall ("Valeris" in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country"), recognized again for HBO's Sex And The City in the category Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series. But there's an interesting omission this year: no Kelsey Grammer!

All the Enterprise nominees are as follows:

    borgified-earth.jpg

I still do not see it

although if you look next to the dominican republic, even though its blurred out we should see it a bit blurry, but I dont, so here is my question... WHERE THE HECK IS PUERTO RICO?!?!!?!?!?

So I guess it is true, they dont plan on having us around in the 24th century

  6. I used to be a Huge Fan Of HHH, but ever since RAW became "The Triple H Show", I can't stand him.  I'm Frellin' SICK Of Seeing HHH, week after week after week getting his way.

As long as he is doin the boss's daughter, expect it to be. but don't worry, they are getting married, and once they are maried its just a short while before he screws up with her and Vince has him wrestling dark matches.

Hogan and Piper are Gone btw.

WOOOOO Best thing to happen since... the 1997 montreal screw job

  7. With Star Trek, you never know. It might happen.

But since Q is not supposed to be intorduced to the Federation untill TNG, I doubt he might show up.

Unless they make it work with the timeline like they did with the Borg, Q might show up and at the end erase their memories of the event, then in TNG he shows up to check on how humanity has changed in 200 years.

  8. I dont think they ever fully explained how the whole Bajoran/Cardassian thing began, how did it began?, how did the Cardassians end up on Bajor? how did the Bajorans end up beign the Cardassians prisioners and workers and stuff?

  9. oooh, This year I am going to get them, I wanted to get the Delta Flyer and the EMH but I didnt have the money to buy them, and when I did they were sold out =( so this year Im gonna get the Scorpion and T'Pol.

  10. Ok, with TOS, ENT, TNG, DS9 and VOY theres always Alpha Quadrant, right? but in some series we learnt about other Quadrants, with DS9 theres the Gamma Quadrant and with Voyager theres the Delta Quadrant, my question is... When are we gonna learn info about the Beta Quadrant?, i know in the Beta Quadrant is where Ferenginar and I think Romulus and Remus are, but what else is in the Beta Quadrant, I wish that we would get a series that focuses on the Beta Quadrant.

  11. And Guinan could be on board with Kes and Q and ...

And Janeway so Kes can hug her in the end

heh, sorry must be the flu talking here.

but it sounds like a good idea, something happens that shouldnt happen cause of Future Guy and in comes the U.S.S. Relativity with Seven of Nine and Janeway (Well Janeway might show up, Braxton said it himself, she loves to stick her nose in temporal stuff) to fix the problem
