Do you honestly believe Veronica Mars (seen only by a small number of people in the US) could receive over 450,000 votes while Enterprise (seen around the world) could receive only 20,000? It just is not plausible.

The final Star Wars movie will be an emotional "Titanic in space", according to director George Lucas. Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith will hit movie theatres in America in May bringing to an end the most celebrated sci-fi film franchise in screen history. Episodes I and II, released 16 years after the last of the original trilogy Return Of The Jedi, were derided by critics and fans - who felt they lacked the quality of their predecessors. But Lucas is promising Episode III, which will bring the series to a close, will be a different affair. He says, "It's a real tearjerker, and it will be received in a way that none of us can expect. I feel that I've made the movie the best I can and it turned out the way I wanted it to be, so I'm happy." And he insists he isn't concerned about fans' response to Episode III: "I never try to anticipate what the world's going to think or even worry about whether they're going to like it or not. That's not my job, to make people like my movies. They either like them or they don't. That's completely out of my hands." Speaking at the ShoWest conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lucas refused to give away the film's plot - but screened the first six minutes of the film, and told audience members, "Obviously, fans would love to see a movie about Darth Vader running around killing people. I'm not telling that story, and I'm not interested in that. That's not what the movie is. This first trilogy is really about the father, the struggles of a father, or a man, basically, to find himself, and at the same time fall into a trap of wanting certain powers, making a pact with the devil and basically spending the rest of his life regretting it."from IMDB.com
Just curious of what you SW fans think of George Lucas' referring to Episode III as "Titanic in Space". Does that excite or scare you?

I found this at TrekToday:
In his regular chat with Star Trek Magazine (via Sci Fi Pulse), Berman said that when he and Braga initially wrote the episode, "we did it with a feeling that there was a very good chance that the show would not be continuing, but that there was a possibility it might. And we wrote accordingly." He said that when producers receive word of a show's cancellation, they do not think in terms of a last-minute reprieve, but he said that even if the series came back it would not change the storyline: "It's not like we're destroying the ship or the crew. It's a very special and unique episode, a kind of episode we've never really done before."I believe the rumours regarding anyone's death are strictly that - rumours.

Blake Gears Up for Another Court BattleA day after Robert Blake celebrated his acquittal on charges of murdering his wife, a lawyer for the victim's family announced plans to "wipe that smile off his face" in a civil case. The former Baretta star, 71, was elated after being found not guilty on Wednesday in the May 2001 shooting death of his wife of six months, Bonny Lee Bakley. Blake was also acquitted of soliciting a former stuntman to murder Bakley, and the jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of finding him not guilty of asking a second stuntman to kill her. But now Blake's legal woes have entered a fresh chapter, after a wrongful death civil lawsuit was brought by Bakley's family, which was held over until the conclusion of the three-month criminal trial. Eric Dubin, the lawyer for Bakley's family, says, "I'm going to wipe that smile off his face." Dubin adds the family felt Bakley, portrayed in court as a star-struck grifter who ran a mail-order sex business, had been murdered twice - "once in the car and once on the stand". Blake was charged with fatally shooting Bakley, 44, in his car outside a Los Angeles-area restaurant. The evidence was largely circumstantial, based on the testimony of the two stuntmen whom jurors said they found unreliable. Dubin plans to take testimony for the civil case from Blake within two weeks and have him back in court in July. In civil cases, a verdict is based on the "preponderance of evidence" and the jury's verdict does not have to be unanimous - a lower standard of proof than a criminal trial where a case has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt.

Lil' Kim Going to JailLil' Kim is heading to jail after being convicted of perjury in New York yesterday. The rapper, real name Kimberly Jones, was found guilty of lying before a federal grand jury and conspiracy to commit perjury after lying about her involvement in a 2001 shooting incident. She was acquitted of one count of obstruction of justice. The rapper shook her head as her friends and supporters sobbed in court as the jury reached their decision in the case. Lil' Kim is scheduled to be sentenced on 24 June and she faces up to 20 years in jail.

The results of that poll don't sound right to me. I find it very difficult to believe there wasn't some sort of problem with the poll (technical problem from those stupid pop-up ads possibly?). The poll results sound wrong to me.

What did Wesley do? Prove himself to be smarter than Picard? I think Beverly did a good thing for her son by taking him there. A mother should encourage their children's interests. If Picard hadn't been such a lemon, almost chasing the two away with an axe, I'm sure Picard could have learned a good thing or two from the boy :P
The only time I can think of Picard throwing Wes off the bridge and telling Bev to take charge of her son was when Wes had been invited onto the bridge, was allowed to sit in the captain's chair but told not to touch anything. He touched stuff anyways and Picard threw him off the bridge. Wes deserved it.

That just doesn't sound right!

STORM FRONT, PART IIProduction: 078
Season: 4 Episode: 2
Original Air Date: 10.15.2004
Upcoming Air Date: 03.18.2005

As the Nazi invasion of the U.S. continues in an altered 1944, Archer and his crew map out their strategy to stop Vosk from building a time machine that will take him back to his own time and inflame the Temporal Cold War, wreaking havoc upon the timeline. Having befriended American resistance fighters intent on battling the Nazis, Archer has a ready-made force on the ground to help with his cause.
But first, he is intent on bringing Tucker and Mayweather back on board Enterprise. Vosk hails Archer, offering the chance for a rendezvous to retrieve the two men, although the alien most certainly will expect some sort of recompense. Indeed, at the meeting, Vosk clearly needs the technology aboard Enterprise to accelerate his task in building the time machine. But Archer has no intention of helping him, though Vosk insists that he is changing the timeline for the better ... despite Daniels' ardent claims otherwise. Back on board Enterprise with Tucker and Mayweather, Archer and Phlox learn that Trip isn't actually himself: the Suliban Silik has taken on his identity. Upon his exposure, Silik reveals that he has left Vosk's compound with a disk that contains schematics and other information about the time machine. Determined now to retrieve Trip — who is trapped inside the compound — and armed with the new data, Archer heads back to Earth accompanied by Silik, who shapeshifts into human form. T'Pol is left in command with orders to take out the compound as soon as Archer deactivates the shields and he gives her the go-ahead from the surface.

With the help of resistance fighters Alicia and Carmine, Archer and Silik head into Vosk's compound to deactivate the machine which is soon to be completed. Meanwhile, Alicia, Carmine and their cohorts fend off Nazi soldiers working on behalf of Vosk. However, as Archer and Silik make inroads to the machine's shields, soldiers descend on them. In the ensuing battle, Silik is wounded and dies. Just as Archer bids a farewell to him, the real Trip appears, having earlier freed himself from incarceration.

As German planes hover to protect the facility on Vosk's orders, Archer and Trip are transported back to Enterprise. Once there, Enterprise must do battle against the planes above the Manhattan skyline. Just as Vosk is about to enter a time portal, Enterprise fires upon his compound and destroys it, annihilating Vosk in the process.

Once Vosk's plan is foiled, Daniels — alive once again — appears to Archer, showing him that the timeline is resetting itself, and that all the damage Vosk caused never happened.
Within moments, finally, Archer and his crew are back to their own time, on their way home after saving Earth from the Xindi superweapon.

If you are ordering something from someone in another country and/or in a foreign currency it is best to go to a bank or post office IMO. You should be able to get an international money order in any currency from either institution. If someone sent me a Winn Dixie money order I'm not sure if my bank would accept it (we don't have Winn Dixie in Canada).

I think Earth would have been much better off if a ship from Angel One had made first contact. Now that's a planet who knows who should be in charge and who shouldn't. LOL
-
Totally agreed with that - T'Pol is the main reason I turned from the show. I tried to be optimistic for a while, but it just didn't work out... aside from the constant timeline contradictions and bad directing and T'Pol, the show was alright... only good things were that it was Star Trek (although some would tend to argue that) and Porthos.Bad directing? So many of the directors used on Enterprise have been veteran Trek directors. I disagree about bad directing.
Personally, I like T'Pol and disagree with those who feel she is not a strong female character.

I don't think Picard was a jerk either. He was uncomfortable with having children on board and how that made the ship vulnerable to casualties thus the saucer seperations at times. He could be gruff and crabby at times but other captains also showed that tendency including the one (I think it was Robby Cox) that replaced him when the cardassians tortured Picard. That was Captain jellico. MAN I hated him!
Played by Ronny Cox.
Bev deserved to be told to take her son off the bridge that time after what Wes did.
I don't think Wes should have ever been allowed on the bridge. That character was, as most will agree, very unrealistic.

since I put my banner here, it'll be added to the rest so it will show up eventually at the top of the screen right? I've never sent in a banner here before, I used to PM VGB but my PC is messed up and I can't, and I'm uncertain if that's how it works. Here's the question, do I still need to PM VBG with the banner that was seen in my previous post or can I just leave it here and he'll see it?
Just posting it here is usually sufficient. One of us mods will spot it and let VBG know that there is another new one for the rotation.

I pre-ordered my copy online but it hasn't arrived yet - actually it hasn't shipped yet!!! I called the customer service number to find out why and the lady I spoke to said that of the 2 movies I had ordered ST: FC had so many pre-orders they hadn't gotten to my order yet. She said she hoped it would be shipped within the next couple of days.
The other movie I pre-ordered was The Incredibles (also released March 15) and she said that one was already available for me as I was near the top of the list for pre-orders for that. I found that information to be rather fascinating.
-
I didn't think Picard was a jerk at all. I'm sure no children on the bridge is a very common rule for starships that have families aboard. There were a number of areas that children weren't allowed to go (remember the episode Imaginary Friend)

Body and Soul was on the Space Channel today. I love that episode. I was laughing so much I'm surprised I didn't wake up my daughter. I think it's one of the funniest Trek episodes period - not just Voyager. Jeri Ryan did a great job mimicking the Doctor.
-
Lennon/McCartney would top my list. I'm not sure what order I would put them in but Elton John/Bernie Taupin, Paul Anka, Paul Williams, Irving Berlin, Gershwin brothers, Duke Ellington, Oscar Hammerstein, Diane Warren and Bob Dylan would all be included. I'm sure I missed quite a few others too.

This poll has been extended to March 19 so keep voting. This is what she had to say in her March 12 column:
This year's Save One Show campaign--in which readers vote for the one endangered series they want to save--is all about the shows that have been on the air this season. (And by the way, we will reveal the overwhelming winner in just one week, so hang tight!)Keep voting! You can vote more than once.

I don't dislike the first and second seasons. There are a number of episodes from both seasons that I really enjoy however if I had to list the seasons in favourite's order then seasons 1 and 2 would be at the bottom.

How Do You Feel About Enterprise?
in Ten Forward
Posted
I've always been curious as to the breakdown of feelings towards Enterprise. I think I've got every base covered.
I didn't want this thread to become a debate on the merits of various series so I have made it a poll only (no replies).
