Sci-fi Channel's Horrible Programing!

Recommended Posts

The SF' channel's programming quality has really been substandard recently. Through the weekdays the mainly play marathons of the same shows and eps they did a week or two before. The new shows they are putting on are also crappy. Tremors? Tripping the Rift? That reality show I forget the name of? The worst of the new shows imo is Codenamed: Eternity. That show's female lead cannot act her way out of a wet paperbag and the SFX stink plus the whole concept is tired and dated. The movies are mostly monsters of the week fare and are really all the same. What happened to all of the cool vintage sf shows they used to play back in the mid 90s? I'm not talking about Lost in Space either! The dont even play the old 80s toons and anime anymore. The only shows that I watch on that channel now are ST TOS (every now and then) and Stargate SG1. They even went so far as to play BRAVE HEART of the SCI FI channel!!!?? When has a film based in 13th century Scotland considerd SF? I know it was shown because the usa channel is SFs sister channel but I just can't excuse it. The way they ended Farscape also ticked me off. I have this theory that the channel is secretly being run by genetically enhanced chimps. The people the actors deal with are just other actors! This channel has fallen so far... What are your opinions?

I never have thought Sci-Fi channel's programming was any good. I don't mind SG-1 and Tremors is OK if you just accept it for it's kooky campiness. It's meant to be cheesy! But anything else just doesn't do it for me. I would really like to see them play some of the classic Sci-fi movies from the 50's thru the 80's and any and all the classic sci-fi tv shows of the 60's and 70's. Heck it would even be nice to see the 50's Flash Gordon TV show or even the Flash Gordon serials. However, it will never happen. They seem intent on pushing sleeze/soft porn sci-fi instead. I used to have a contact at Sci-Fi channel who was in charge of programming. Maybe I should write him again.

The Only Thing I Watch On Sci-Fi Star Trek, X-Files, Hercules, Stargate SG-1 & Tremors. Sometimes I'll Find Reruns Of Farscape Too.

Other Than That...I Don't Bother With It.

Seems As Time Goes By, The Shows Get Crappier, With A Few That Are Still Doing Good.

I have to agree. Almost any time I flip to the si fi channel now its and old B or C movie that sometimes does not even seem si fi. I like Tremors and SG1 is great and I would like to see triping the rift does anybody know when it is on? I really hope when they start to air the new battlestar that the programing gets better. I would love to see sliders and buck rogers again. I know that they played them a bunch but they are shows that you can watch over and over again like star trek.

They have also showed movies like "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and the "Flintstones" films and I thought 'what the hell does any of these films have to do with Sci-Fi?

Its wierd!

The President of SciFi has taken great offense at your comments. He says if you don't apologize, he is going to fling poop at you. You have been warned. :waaaa:
