Julie 0 Posted February 18, 2004 They say Neccessity is the mother of all inventions. Well, Neccessity seems to have 2 children who help out alot too. Military Neccessity, and Star Trek. for this, though, I will focus on Star Trek. Before TOS, there weren't any bedside EKGs or other monitoring systems. the Starfleet Communicator Kirk used inspired flip-up Cell Phones. Ever seen a touch screen? I don't think those were around before TNG. the first space shuttle was named Enterprise not by chance, but because Nasa was flooded with letters demanding it be named such. Please, add on! WEAREBORG4102 0 Posted March 18, 2004 also the idea of nanotechnology was not expored until the borg were brought to life!!!!!! So many theories have come to life in Star Trek!... We never thought possible to bend space time before star trek, but now it is proven that spacetime is bent by everything... remember the scanners and medical beds that Bones used to use? Well those inspired the "tunnel beds" we use for cat scans and the such we use today!!!! Don't forget to mention chemoterapy..... Star trek was the first to innovate the use of radiation in medical treatment...
