Can Sigma Iotia II achieve Warp-drive?

Recommended Posts

Do you the planet Sigma Iotia II achieve Warp-drive anytime soon (like in the 25th century)? Or they're society will collapse at some point (I don't think it will...)? Or they have just as much chance as 21st century Earth? I just think it's an interesting premise, if the Sigma Iotians gain a space program, or learn how to play fizzbin....

Well we achieved warp drive after a century and a half filled with world wide upheaval ( the great depression, the first and second world wars, the cold war, the eugenics wars, the war on terror , and finally the nuclear nightmare of the Third World War) so I think unless the Federation is actively discouraging them they should be going for it by the turn of the 25th century, and who knows if they hook up with the Ferengi they could start a whole chain of fizzbin casinos!!

Just imagine those pioneers of Iotian space exploration as they look out at the vastness, the haunting beauty of the galaxy and speak those immortal words "We're gonna be runnin' da dump"

Talk about diggin into the archives...

When the Enterprise left the planet, McCoy realized that he left his communicator behind. Kirk (I think it was Kirk, or it might have been Spock) stated that one of the components in the communicator was the basis of almost all Starfleet technology. Also, it was stated that the Sigma Iotians were great mimics.

Given those two facts, they could possibly have reproduced the technology withing just a couple decades, and gone on to develop warp technology within a couple decades after that. I'd say 60 years, tops.

I've also heard that if they do develop the technology quickly, the appearance of everything, right down to the uniforms, would be very similar to those of the Enterprise and it's crew.

Also, consider this... They copied 1930's gangster life almost exactly from just a book! They didn't even have any sort of technology reminiscent to the 1930's. Just a book!!!!
